my 680i south brige fan sounds like a masquito in my ear this normal or do i have a bad fan?

STOP TEH PAIN IN MY HEAD!!!!

i found the problem the damn southbrige cooler is lose and if i hold my finger on the side if it the noise stops
hmmm new fan time i have an old geforce 5200 with a fan about the same size as the south brige im going to try try that

yea they are but the fan wont run under 90% power and its really lose but
and for some really really odd reason the southbrige stays cooler when the fan isn't running....maybe bad bearings heating the chip?

the one i pulld off the 5200 fx is the same fan as Newegg.com - VIZO VIZO-NBC-101-CPR Copper Sleet Chipset Cooler - Retail

You have a pny fx 5200 am I right?

yup the agp got it for everquest back in the day

i pulld it off and the frame was bent i replaced it with the pny fan but i cant get a temp reading any more i think the temp sensor was in the fan so i dont know if its working or not i dont think the south brige gets too hot any way?

I got the pci 128MB version from a pawn shop around September for $20
