Default Themal Adhesive to use installing HR-03 Plus

I'm wondering what adhesive to use for attaching the ramsinks from my HR-03 Plus on the 8800GTX.

My worry is that eVGA honors their warranty on cards that have had aftermarket coolers installed on them but, if you use the AS5 thermal adhesive those ramsinks are PERMANENTLY attached which would make it impossible to return the card if it malfunctions while under warranty.

Also, if I want to step-up in the next 90 days, I have to return the card to it's original state and I wouldn't be able to do that if the ramsinks are unmovable.

Is there anything I can add to the adhesive to make it a little less permanent or is there another adhesive out there that I could use that would allow me to remove the ramsinks?

I'd appreciate advice.

Thank you.

Neat trick me and Necro used on the mosfets on a striker extreme, RAMsinks + corners with superglue (very small amount on corners) and then AS5 or cerimique across the middle.

That sounds like a great idea!! Thank you!!

Could you give a little bit more detail as to how exactly you did it so I can replicate the process.

If it worked for you, I'd like to do it in a way that's closest to the one that worked.

Thanks again for the idea.

Ive used the superglue trick before, works a treat.

Using my fecking awesome paint skillz0rs, ive mocked this up. Put superglue where the black dots are and spread thermal paste on the rest of the chip.

If you make the super glue dots really small, the BGA sinks should just twist off with little effort should you need to remove them...

You could just use some thermal tape. Some carefully placed non-conductive fishing line could hold the sinks on with normal thermal compound.

Thank you for the replies!!

Dex, I appreciate your madskillz.

Definitely very helpful to have that diagram.

I'll be working on the install tomorrow evening and I'll be back to comment on how it goes.

Thanks again!!

those paint skills are teh r0x0rs...

Glad I could help, just like dex said, they twist off pretty easy the less glue used, if you do remove them, I recoommend a very gentle twist, don't want to take any silicon with it.
