Question fan modding question

hello,

so this is my very first post on these forums so please be nice
anyways, over the past 4 months i have gotten into and finished my first pc.
I bought a armour full tower case and it came with 1 120mm intake, 1 120mm exhaust and i believe 2 more 80mm exhaust fans. I have been searching for some clear answers on how to run these fans in the best way as to not hurt my new baby. I would much rather be safe than sorry with this guy knowing how much it has cost me.
all of the fans that have come along with the case have a 3pin connecter for my mobo (for the RPM monitor) and also have come with a 4 pin molex Y connecter on each. I would much rather get rid of all the stupid Y connecters and have one clean wire running instead of a bunch of ugly molex connecters huddled up.

the questions are :
If i am to mod these fans so that i can just have the 1 3pin connector for each takin power from my mobo, will it be to much for the mobo to handle?

Would i have to get my soldering iron out for moving wires on the fans?

Is it just easier to get a fan controller and hook them all up to that? or, should i even spend the money if i have the extra fan connectors on my mobo?

any advice would be helpful, just trying to get some clear answers before i dink around in my case again an break something.

Hello and Welcome to pcApex you should introduce your self here.

There is so many types of things you can do but i probably would go with a 5.25 bay controller for your fans you can find here. now as to your questions about wiring there are 2 places that carry all kinds of different wiring for fans here is the first place and the second they our very good places to get all sorts of mods from.

WELCOME ABOARD!!

Personally, I wouldn't do it myself - I'd hook them up to a fan controller or similar.

If I understand you correctly, you are planning on having all of the fans running off a single, 3-pin connector on your motherboard. What you'll first need to do is work out how much current they draw:
Have a look on the stickers of each fan - there'll be a current rating (in amps) eg: 0.80Amp

Check them for all of the fans you want to run off the same connector and let us know - as well as what kind of motherboard you have

We'll help ya out

Welcome.
If the fans all have the 3 pin connectors built into the wire then all you would have to do is plug the fans directly into your motherboard. This is assuming that the motherboard has enough open fan headers on it, and that you are using normal fans and not some monsters that draw a large amount of current. If you are thinking about rewiring the fans to send them all to 1 3 pin connector then listen to what MasterP said and get back to us about that, but I would advise against doing that.

ok to answer master p, the mobo is a xfx nforce 680i sli. the 120mm fans are rated at 0.30amps and the 80mm ones are rated at .13amps. there is a total of 7 fan headers on the mobo itself, 2 of wich are being used by the cpu fan and the chipset fan. all the other fans in the system have a 3pin connector, but, only the rpm wire is attached to them, the power for the fans is on a molex y seperate the 3pin connector. ultimate goal is to just clean up the wires without fryin somethin cuz im an idiot.
