Default Aftermarket cooling for 7800GS?

Is there such a thing, outside of liquid cooling? The stock blower is one loud mamma jamma, and it would be nice if I could swap it out for something quieter. Various searches have yielded nothing but dead ends. From what I can gather the HSI makes it a pain in the behind to make an aftermarket solution, but if anyone nows, I figure it's be the PCA crew. -crosses fingers-

Yup. A fairly popular solution is the VF-900 from Zalman. There are a few others but I'm not sure what they are.

After doing some digging, it seems there's no aftermarket cooler available. You're correct in saying that the problem is that there's a big fat HSI chip where the GPU would usually be, and the GPU itself is down the back of the card.

"The following nVidia graphics cards have no solution - 7800GS (AGP) and 6800GS"

Application:
ATI:
X1950, X1900 series
X1800 series
nVIDIA:
7950, 7900 series
7800, 6800 series (except 7X00 GS AGP)

Mounting holes on 7xxx-series are all based on the “squared” length design rather than the “rectangular” length design that the 7800GS has.

Google yields nothing either...but I suppose you could always go ghetto, and mod an old CPU cooler to it or something? Buy some ramsinks as well and it could work quite nicely.

thought so, thanks for looking Reflux. Eascarface, the Zalman website says it's not compatible with the 7800GS. My google search yielded a lot of unconfirmed possibilities for it to be used, but I am not about to go out and spend money on an aftermarket solution that may or may not work. Guess I'll just have to stick with the stick and find some way to quiet it down a bit.
