Default scythe infinity help

im installing my infinty onto a 4300 on an MSI p6n board.. this is probally a stupid question but one time i messed this up and ruined a new CPU. and i havent built a computer in a few years and i dont know if things changed. what i did one time was not put the feet on a i think it was a slk-800 and i crushed the CPU.

so what im wondering is do i need any feet or shims for the heatsink so that i dont crush the CPU?

also i know the cpu is dual core.. but it looks like it just has one large core.. do i put thermal grease across the whole thing?

please help.

What ever comes with the HS is what you need. In this case, with a stock cooler, you shouldn't need anything.

The two cores are beneath what you see, that is called a heat spreader. So yes, you would put thermal compound across the whole thing, for best results.

well thanks for trying to help.. but i figured it out any ways..

and if you even looked at my post.. or the title you would see that im not talking about the stock heat sink.

and uh yeah they used to sell all kindas of shims for high preformance heatsinks so that they can be used on many different types of sockets. so no they dont always come with what you need

Sorry, I had a brainfart. Though every performance HS i ever bought had everything I needed, including an SLK-900 on a AMD Tbred. Just my experiance.
