Default 8800 cooling?

My 8800GTS is too loud and too hot. I want to get a new heatsink, but this thing looks rediculous and looks like it makes SLI impossible.

Thermalright HR03 Plus Installation

Maybe I'll just got with this...

I remember seeing that article of your of your 2nd link i hope you have a big a$$ case for it, as to your first link that looks good, but like you said i think it be impossible to run SLI seeing that the 2 video cards would be to close together and if you run 2 of the same cards then you have a serious problem running 2 video cards with that kind of setup being that there is not enough space between the 2 video cards.

If your just going to run 1 video card and not set it up for SLI then you be fine, one of the things i did not like is they connected the fan using zip ties i would not think that would be a very good secured way for connecting your fan with vibrations and all of the fan when it is running.

Does Zalman make a low-profile cooler for the 8800?

ADD: I did some googling... I thought Zalman's VF900 would be compatible, but none of them say they are. And it looks like the THermalright HR-03 is about the only aftermarket cooler for the 8800 as of now, barring water cooling.

Now thats power, that thing could keep my whole rig cool, wonder what the CFM rating is on that fan

I would have to say that has some awesome CFM, the problem is fitting inside of a case i do not think even my UFO cases are big enough.

Maybe if you moved the motherboard tray to one side that would be pimp, that thing has to bee 12" tall or more, cigg packs are like 3-4"

Yes very true there the only other problem is my cases are 18x18x18 square so if that cooler say is 12 inches tall i would have to extend the size of the case to make it fit since the motherboard pretty much sets in the middle of the case, now that be one hell of a big case for someone to mod with the Zalman cooler, imagine that it would be one hell of a setup lol.

Yup but the imagination can run wild if it was a real one.

In all honesty, it would seem the best cooling for saving space is water cooling....These huge heatsinks are just getting outrageous!!

Thats what I'm thinkin, especially now that I have a huge case (Enermax Maxflow) where I could put the radiator in the HDD bay and just put my HDD's in the 5" slots. I kinda want to do a hybrid cooling system where I have water running through or over my Tuniq Tower. Hmm well it's kind of a pipe dream (pun) until this summer especially since I blew all my "other" savings on a trip to China.

W/C hmm... Lokie you and Twisted are gonna be around this summer right? I may need some help.... heh..

There is one in May!?! I'd highly doubt it, I get done with school May 12th and I leave for China May 15th for 20days... :-/ Otherwise I'd for sure go. I'll be sure to let some of my friends know. If they have an august one again, I know a bunch of people from school that want to come.
