| I've had a dell 2300 for the longest time and until recently i've been content with standard stuff. However as of late i got a lot of people wanting me to play WoW...which is just wonderful because I review for Gameapex so now i'll have even less of a life. Anyways I just got my memory up to 512 and I'm not sure if my pc is agp or pci. Now I've been eyeing this card at walmart its a Nivida fusion 4000 128mb however I'm not sure if my comp will take it I know the Nividia is pci it says so on the box. If anyone wants to help please do. | ||

Well my experience of the lower end Dell desktops would indicate that you only have a PCI slot. I presume the graphics card you are referring to above is a nVidia GeForce MX4000, possibly the worst graphics card ever made (it's simply a tarted-up GeForce 2). If you can afford it, the best PCI card to go for is the Radeon X1300 PCI (see review here). Understand however, that PCI is such a limiting interface you will probably be wasting your money. The author of that article recommends picking up an older generation PCI card such as a Radeon 9250. If it was me however, I'd buy a new motherboard with at least AGP support...but obviously it depends on how much you want to spend.

| The last Dell I worked on needed a new mobo. But most Dell's don't have a removable I/O plate. And the power supply wasn't pinned the same as a standard one. And the Dell didn't have the standard hook ups for the power and reset switch's and such. And the heatsink had a special adapter plate that didn't match up to a standard mobo. By the time I was done it was almost a completely new PC. And for the money spend it would of been better to have build a new PC with a newer cpu. My advise. Build a new PC and stay away from the Dell's of the world. Good Luck :-) | ||

| I used to have a 2350 years ago before I gave it to my little brother to use. It did not have an AGP slot, only 3 pci slots. Check these links out: PCI slots Image ci-slots.jpg - Wikipedia, the free encyclopediaAGP slot Image:AGP slot.jpg - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia They should give you a good idea of what each slot looks like, and you should be able to figure out exactly your board has. | ||

And if you can scrape up a bit more you could look at something in this line: Radeon X1300 series If you do go with an X1300, make sure to get one with 128 bit memory interface
