| I was met with a pleasant surprise today from my parents. I've been needing a notebook case, but got one way over the top! It's a relatively new case called the OtterBox. It is tough! It is waterproof, features shock guards, and even has a lock on it! In this third party test, the case with two pieces of styrofoam on the inside was run over with a Toyota 4Runner. The case didn't survive, but the styrofoam did. I plan on using the case for school. It will greatly extend the life of my notebook, which I'm pretty hard on. The only complaint I have about the case is its size (it doubles the width of your laptop) and its weight (7 pounds). This looks like a good alternative for someone looking for a toughbook-like setup but who doesn't want to pay the money. However, I'm concerned the case will be simply too large. Has anyone here owned this case or a similar one before? | ||

| i havent used one myself, but i do know that they are high quality i've seen the more general purpose ones in military supply magazines, which is usually a good sign now you just need to team it up with a toughbook, and see how much they can take ![]() | ||

| I've seen Otterbox and Pelican make multi-purpose cases in a variety of shapes and sizes, but never a laptop case... I have two of the smaller Otterbox cases that I use for keeping my cigs and small items safe (read: uncrushed and dry) inside my rucksack, and I've got friends who won't store their weapons inside any case if it isn't a Pelican... I have a buddy who bought an Alienware behemoth lappy, I think he's gonna be buying one of these here pretty soon... | ||
