| Which do you guys think would make a better case? The Thermaltake Armor Full Tower in black or the Silverstone TJ07 in black. I do need the space for my future setup. I have looked at a handful of reviws but still can't decide. Money's not an issue and I want something that will help with less noise. Can you help a brotha out? | ||

| I think one of the most important parts to consider for a quiet system is the power supply. Most mid and high end power supplies use a bottom mounted 120mm fan, and the best ones only ramp this up when it's too hot or the power supply is struggling for air. The layout for the power supply for the Silverstone is more advantageous according to the few pictures I've seen of both, so I'd go for that. | ||

| One thing I don't like about the TJ07 (and similarly laid out boxes)-- you have to run the mobo power cable all the way up the board to get to the socket. Some PSUs don't have hugely long mobo cords, and all of them will likely need the cable threaded all around to make it be non-ugly and non-dangle-across-things. Also, you can get the regular Armour and have enough cash left over for a good PSU for the price of the TJ07 alone. (at Xoxide, the Armour's $140 and the TJ07's 300) | ||

| A little more info would be in order, I think... You mention you "future setup", but don't go into any details. For instance, how many hard drives? How many vid cards? That sort of info kind of gives us an idea about how much better the cooling has to be... The more fans to cool everything down, the more noise invariably gets generated... Low-RPM 120mm fans can help with the cooling, but they can only cool so much... And speaking of cooling, does your "future setup" involve any water cooling, phase-change cooling, anything exotic like that? I ask because if "money is not an issue", then you might go for a quad-sli, quad-core, phase-change system all the way... Between those two cases, I would tend to go with the Armor, but that's because I do have to make money an object when I make parts purchases... | ||

Ok. Sorry about not including what my "future setup" will be, here it is. Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6700 Processor P5N32-E SLI 680i Motherboard 4 gigs of OCZ RAM 2, count em, 2 eVGA 8800GTX Cards Single DVD Burner 1 Raptor 150GB Drive 2 WD RE2 500GB Drives in RAID 0 850W Thermaltake ToughPower PSU (Quad-SLI Ready) SoundBlaster X-Fi Fatal1ty Card Hopefully my Airlink WiFi Card Windows Vista Ultimate Yeah, it's a monster system and could be a heater for my room. I plan to paint the interior some sort of shade between black and grey. I have thought many times of a watercooling setup, but i'ts not important to me right now. I plan to plant four to five of the best green 120mm fans I can find in this system. I found some at FrozenCpu called SilenX and they run at about 15dBA. Remeber, the case is going to be black and it goes with green pretty well.

Hiper power supplies Performance PCS $99.00 Newegg hiper power supply Black $84.99 with free 3 day shipping or this one it is Blue Hiper PSU $89.99 3 day shipping $10.84

Really? I thought I needed at least 650 to 700W of power for those two cards and such.

, That is totally up to you if you want bigger but that is all i run and if you seen how many lights and hardware i have on my 2 UFO cases you would see 530 to 600 is way plenty of power that all you need, and I own 2 of the Hipers PSU 530W. | I haven't been fortunate to be able to afford to play with the Tt or the Hiper PSUs, but if the 1KW PC Power and Cooling is anywhere as good as their 510 SLI, that's one that you can't go wrong with... If you're worried about being able to power all those goodies now, and anything else you happen to add in the future, that is... I know the PCP&Cs are expensive, but from the looks of things (shopping list), money isn't much of an object for ya... With all that nice hardware, it would be sinful to skimp on a quality PSU, IMO. Again, that's not to totally diss the Tts and the Hipers, just haven't had much chance to play with them... EDIT: Now I REALLY think the PCP&C will be the better of the two... Looking at the tech specs on the 1KW vs the Hiper, the 1KW has the FOUR PCI-E connectors that you'll need to run the dual 8800s, the Hipers only have 2...
