Default New Motherboards

What are some new motherboards to look foward to in the next few months? I wanted to build another system with a P5N32-E SLI, but they are sold out on zipzoomfly.com and newegg. Anyone know what happened? It's not on ASUS's website anymore either.

There has been some reports of memory issues and some other problems on the P5N32-E SLI, maybe they pulled it. The Asus Striker Extreme is still an option. It looks exactly like the P5N with slightly different specs.

eVGA has a 680i already out, BFG 680i SLI is out but very hard to find. Abit will have one out shortly in the form of the IN9 32X-MAX. Expect more in the next couple of months.

Yup. I know the Striker is about the same board as the P5N32-E SLI, just with steroids...

I guess thats why they seemd to be pulled off the shelves on some web retailers.

Well it's going to be quite interesting these next few months as everyone will be spitting out new stuff. Now I have to wait for another board to debut because P5N32-E is gone. Hope DFI whips their new 680i board up good.

Newegg.com - ASUS P5N32-E SLI ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail

For those that may wonder, I don't think it's gone...it looks like they just fell behind in production with the Christmas rush, looks like it will become available again next month

It is odd how it's no longer listed by Asus though...possibly until they are able to restock it?

MSI has their P6N series, which will be based on the 680i SLI, 650i SLI, and 650i Ultra. They said they would release it at the end of December, so I'm thinking end of January to mid-February.

There are new shots of what could be the 680i, which packs a simple heatpipe system starting from the southbridge, to the northbridge, and ending at the power circuits. There are 3 PCIe x16 slots, 1 PCIe x1 slot, and 2 PCI slots.

I'm looking for the 650i series myself, 680i boards don't appeal to me budgetwise or layoutwise.

XPCgear.com has some Asus boards if you need one.

I wonder if ASUS has plans for another board or two. I would like to see MSI's boards when they get here, I go to Fry's and gaze at them!

I have the Evga 680i SLI mobo. Great board imo.
I gained 400 MHz and faster memory timing over
the Intel D975XBX board I was using (still have it
if anyone is interested). And it's cheaper than the
Asus Necro linked.

Gotta keep an eye out for the new line of nForce 6-series boards - especially the Asus ones. The P5N-E overclocks like fadge (480-500mhz+FSB), yet costs only £75!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Found a picture of MSI's P6N Diamond, I liked the layout of what could be their 650i SLI board better despite the card jumper.

I wish they had all of the pci slots above the pci-e slots so more than one can be used, especially for 8800GTX and 7950GX2 SLI setups. Not only do you need a slot for maybe a possible sound card, but i need my wireless card to be hooked up. And i'm NOT going to purchase a mini usb adapter.

I hear that. I'd like to have 2 7900s with Zalman VF900s, a sound card, and a TV Tuner card, but most motherboards don't support that.

Here's the one I'm looking out for, hopefully MSI paid attention to the SATA problems of the other companies' products and dealt with it accordingly. It should be able to hold the sound card at the bottom, the TV card next to the card jumper, and the 7900s would take the PCIe X8 slots and cover the card jumper and the middle PCI slot. I'd need some heavy power to run that and some hefty cooling for that but it'd be nice to know that the motherboard layout could do it.

Edit: If the pic above is the 680i SLI chipset, then I'm guessing this pic is the 650i SLI chipset.

I find the layout selections bizarre too.

You have seven slots to play with.

X16-x4-x16-x1-PCI-PCI-PCI shouldn't be too hard to figure out. Three PCI slots, and the only slots you block with big GPU coolers are the PCI-E ones which currently aren't being widely used.

The board I have (ASRock 939SLI32) goes PropriateryAM2 card-X16-X4-X16-PCI-PCI-PCI, which is probably the best you can do with six slots, but still, you don't see that a lot either.

Amen to that. The best idea is move all pci slots above the pci-e slots and call it a day. It's so simple but they just don't seem to think about it that much. I even planned to have a TV tuner card, in addition to my wifi card and soundcard for my next setup but i don't know if thats happening. I just seriously hope they move those around. On that MSI 650i board, I see two can be used if you have two big o' cards.

You know, according to this peice of i think a french article, I found out that the P6N Diamond 680i, has Creative X-Fi integrated sound on it. Is that a first?
