| I used an Xtrac Zoom for a long time and loved it, but I got a TurboFragPad to review for GameApex, and let me tell you, it's probably the best mouse pad out there. It's not just the surface, but the asthetics that are appealing. You can read the review here. | ||

| I have a steelpad 4D. I like it a lot. It's big but not so huge it takes up your whole desk. It also comes with some teflon tape which is pretty nice. After I put the teflon tape on my mouse is glides accross the pad. It is kinda expensive though(about $20). | ||

| I have the Xtrac Pro HS which works great with my MX1000 and even with the occasional mechanical mouse (for my server). I like the way they look and for $15 it was a great buy. I moved to plastic surfaces a long time ago (my first was a 3M one that was paper thin and offered improved traction for mechanical mice). I have been thinking of going back to fabric - which feels nicer, but plastic is easier to clean and doesn't absorb sweat (if you game for more than 2 hours straight you know what I am talking about). | ||

| If you want really big there's the XTrac Ripper XXL. I reviewed a while back. Four and a half square feet of mousing surface. Ive been using it since the review and haven't fallen off of it once in that time. If that's too big they also make the XL which is 14 X 17.75. | ||

| I'm running the Xtrac Hammer. Same concept as the pro hx mentioned above, slightly different size. It works great, I've used it with a Logitech mx-500 and an mx-1000. I found it was a little bigger than I like, so I cut it in half. Now I have a backup mousepad just in case I ever wear this one out. | ||

| I use the Razer Pro Mousemat its nice, white- and it dosent dirty easily. This thing is still as clean as the day I got it. Sometimes the edge bumps my Kb but i dont mind. (I sort of have a small area). Linky: Buy.com - Razer Pro Pad Professional Mouse Pad - RP02-010102-R1M1 | ||

| I bought a Ratpadz and it was the biggest waste of money ever. It wore down really quickly, and the surface got really uneven in the spots I used the most. Now I own a FuncPad, and will never buy anything else (although I probly won't have to buy anything for a long time). It's really nice and has a different material on each side to suite your tastes. The FuncPad also comes with a mouse clip which is really nice. | ||

I have the fUNC Archetype as well and I have to agree that it's THE BEST mousepad I've ever used. I switch back and forth between my fUNC Archetype+Copperhead for gaming and my Kensington Expert Pro Trackball for general use. I have to say that the Copperhead with the mousepad is almost as smooth and effortless as using the trackball. Full recommendation for the fUNC Archetype (plus you can customize the design on the face of the pad with images from digitalblasphemy.com!!) -hartigan | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Apex Techie Wannabe | Func's Archetype is a great surface, no doubt. I still think the Ratpadz XT is a better one however. We have gotten some very solid reviews over the holidays that I am proud of. Long story short. We were going to bring the Ratpadz XT (which is the same as the original surface with some improvements) back in '04, as the GS was never supposed to be our only surface. But we got in the middle of that Infinium Labs lawsuit and it took all the money I had to fund that fiasco. So paid lawyers instead of brining the new pad to market. Sad, but that is how it worked out. | |

| Here's my two cents.......... I previously owned the Ratzpads GS but the pad wore out way too quickly. Im with ratchetfps on this one. It didnt take long for the texture on the pad to wear off. Which created flat smooth spots on the pad where the mouse was used the most. As it got more and more warn out. I could feel the grit under the mouse pad while moving the mouse. I had to keep brushing off the grit since it made it harder to move the mouse with loose grit sliding under it. Since i had to replace the ratzpad i went out and bought a corepad. Which so far i have no complaints about it. The mouse just glides across it. Plus its made out of safety glass....... If your looking for another option.......the corepad might be a good choice. | ||

| Apex Techie Wannabe | You are correct, the Ratpadz GS is not for the hardcore gamer, and we pretty much spell that out on the website. Again, the GS was never meant to be our only product line, it just worked out that way. That said, at any time had you gotten with us after purchasing it in the first year we would have replaced them for free with a proof of purchase. We have never turned anyone down on supplying them with a brand new pad within the first year of ownership. If you still have your proof of purchase from you Ratpadz GS, I will apply the current purchase price of those two towards a new Ratpadz XT. Bascially, show me record of your purchase and I will send you a Ratpadz XT free. Can't beat that. Worst case scenario, you can use it for body armor. Drop me an email at kyle@hardocp.com if you are interested. I am sure we can work something out. The GS was never meant to fill the XT/Original surface's shoes, sadly that is what happened. Now that we have a product we can reach out to with unsatified customers, I want to do that. I want your Ratpadz experience to end up good, or at least not sucking so bad. ![]() | |
