| Should I buy a medium priced jigsaw or angle grinder with my cash from xmas?? I went window shopping yesterday, and they are both well within my price range, I just can't decide what would be better. The only thing I want this tool for is long/straight cuts, because I'm tired of spending so much time and cut-off wheels on stupid straight cuts. The two things I'm taking into consideration are the price of replacement wheels/blades, and the ease of use of the tool. I have heard good things about jigsaws, but I am already accoustomed to the way a disc cuts. Which would you guys go for? | ||

Reason is - yes you can make straight cuts well with both, but if you've gotta make a curve the jig-saw rocks. Also definately get a jig-saw with an orbital cut feature. Wordbiker sold me on it and he was right. So really as a well rounded purchase it's hard not to say jig-saw. Reason I'm so happy with my angle grinder is I can use it to cut .125 aluminum like it's not even an issue, cut stainless steel braided lines at work, and grind the emboss off diamond plate when I'm making a case out of it.

Haha, speaking of diamond plate, I saw some at Lowes the other day...holy **** that stuff is expensive!! I can't believe you made your whole duke nukem case out of it, although it does look worth the money. I couldn't image cutting that stuff with a dremel.

The price has doubled at the local supplies in the last 2 months, I used to get .125 24x48 reminents for 40 or so dollars, now they want 75. But actually this guy has always been cheaper. Ebay Shop - Diamond plate and aluminum sheet.
I actually have a semi-cheapie. Black and Decker model JS700K (5.5 amp) - I don't use jig-saws to often so I didn't go to top tier on it. If you want great Bosch and DeWalt make fantastic jig-saws but they're 150+ dollars. Last edited by Iateronmly; 24-December-06 at 12:30 AM..
