Default The best RAM for a 80502100

Hmmm what do you guys think

Also can you guess what kinda speed this sucker has?, as well as what size L1 and L2 cache?

Here's it younger Arch enemy, not only is this a k-5 its thepre K-5 k-5's called 5k86 even though this is a pre release model, it isnt stamped right, the PR rating of 75MHz and the speed of 133MHz, the 133MHzversions were supposed to be stamped with P166 PR ratings, unlike those we got this sucker 5 months before it came out, and it was high speed then

Yeah, it's an Intel P-100. I vote DDR2, gotta love decreased power consumption!

Seriously though, it takes SIMMS.

I think 80502 was the part number on a Pentium where you'd see "80486" on a 486, so I'd say "72 pin SIMM, 168-pin FPM or EDO DIMM, or on a later board, 168-pin SDRAM (not DDR)

This CPU uses 3.3vcore, do you think its worried about power consumption?

I voted DDR2... I mean... think about it... if the CPU is pulling 3.3v then you NEED that decreased power consumption to compensate.

barrp!

lol, the actually RAM it can use, (it doesnt have a memory controller in it, ohh wait intel is just getting to that) is the 30pin and 74 pin variables, but some older "new" boards have SDRAM slots for 168pins

The k-5 i added only has support for the 30 pin SIMM and DIMM which was a special feature of the board, and it also had a VRAM slot for added Video memory, up to 1000KiB

Notice the sticker on the AMD, they didnt even have thermal grease on them, it actually was stickered to the board, and the upgradable socket 7, that supports socket 5

EDIT: also haveabrandnew, still shrink wrapped RevealSVGA graphics card, up to and including 256 colors, gonna open this beast up and plug itin see what kinda scores i can get this with my k-5 andall 16MB of ram it has

Correct, it had a 16kb cache, and the "overdrive" chip had the only Pentium1 32kb cache

Yes thats how my k5 has a heatsink, although the board seems shot (sentimental vlaue mostly) i'm looking for a Socket3 motherboard, with FSB control (the PR166 latter editions had great OC value) and i want to see how low i can get the speed, see if i can take a record. and to see how fast i can get it goin, sucks hwbot doesnt have a K5 ranking only K6 and up. Funny though they don't have a486 ranking either, lol i think the first ranking they have is pentium, MMX, and pro. Shame they dont gota K5 ranking, I've heard of them getting up to 200MHz outta the PR16's.

I got a few AMD K6-2
one @ 299mhz in an IBM Aptiva
the other @ 399mhz in a Compaq Paserio

wasent that bad working on them, win98se worked fine for the most part on it
just speaking about it I feel like firing it up again but it only has 32MB ram ...
it used to have 96MB PC-100/133 but I sold the other sticks

no K5's though ...

also I must have about 32 sticks of assorted ram (very old ram) in a few bags

74 pin 64mb sticks do fetch a penny, but do you have "silver plated" 30 pin antique's

I'd actually be interested in alot of the older ram, i have about 5 borgs all using PC100/66, and can't support the PC133 variety i have.

My K5 was bought new and i'll never git rid of it, the pentium i think i got off a friend or from my old school, i might make a keychain. I also found a Pentium Celeron CPU rated at 433MHz but hell thats innovation compared to what we've been talking about
