![]() | Well i just got a $130 gift certificate for newegg. would it be worth it to drop it on a 6600 as opposed to a 6300, or should i just OC the 6300? Already have an 8800gtx lined up probably, so no reason to drop it on the videocard, the ram is the firestix reviewed on this site, and the mobo is the 680i evga, so no real upgrades there... or i could just use it to drop the overall price $130, but since using the $130 would drop the price of the 6600 to the price of a 6300, i wasn't sure if it'd be worth it. also-- should i bother with the IDE-SATA bridges, or just pick up a PCI PATA card?(i have 2 storage drives and a DVD ROM, and only one IDE line on the mobo) Last edited by The_Motivator; 10-December-06 at 11:14 PM. |

| Mastah Overclocker | Not sure what board and cooling BA is using now , he had the Intel Bad Axe 775 board, but replaced it to get the number he is posting now..I'm using the Asus P5W-DH deluxe 975 board (ATi Corssfire) and a modified Scythe mine cooler....plus some cold outside winter air ducted directly into my rig I am looking at going to the EVGA i680 SLI (250$) board since I am currently limited to around 450FSB with this board, and they can do over 500FSB. If you are not looking for dual video cards, then the Gigabyte DS-3 is doing well for 140$ and hits 500FSB with the latest bios revision.

Newegg.com - Crucial 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail nother ram change. got a question for you OC'ers out there. The ddr2 standard on the 680i mobo is ddr2 800. If i get these sticks, they'll initially run at ddr2 800, but does that mean i can essentially "overclock" them back to where they should be (ddr2 1000)? especially with this board? (reason i'm switching from the dominators is that i've heard less then stellar stuff about sticks made post 1st production run)

DFI RD600 FTW! And 6600's are loads better than 6300 hence the higher price. You'd probably need to OC an E6300 to about 2.6GHz to be equivalent to an E6600. Last edited by Zaltan; 13-December-06 at 02:32 PM.
