Can you tells us what your budget would be that would help us know what price range you are looking at to build a new pc.

If you need a case this is a good place to check out they have some really cool cases Xoxide
Will add more when we find out what you need to be specific.

Ok here is a monitor i would check out from what i have been hearing the viewsonic are reall good. Newegg
$199.99 with a $40 mail in rebate total cost would be $159.99 not counting shipping of course $12.47 3 day shipping

I do not think that there is any chance that there will ever be a dx10 AGP card. You should sell your ATI card and go PCIe. I would go with a core 2 duo system with a 965 chipset on that kind of budget.

If I have time later today I will try to spec out something. ASUS P5B, E6300, 2GB DDR2 and a midrange PCIe video should fit your budget,

I agree with PurpleDiamond - at this point in the game, although there is a little bit of life left in the AGP market, it's probably better for you to cash out your old 9700 Pro and go with a PCIe video card instead. If you're looking to upgrade at some point, you should definitely go for a mid-range card at the moment, but don't spend TOO much of your hard earned $$$ on it. With Christmas coming up, you're bound to find a good deal on one soon - lots of sales right now.

Definitely go Core 2 Duo - I'm also a fan of AMD, but the benchies just don't lie

If you've got any questions on that case I've just built a rig with one. I quite like it - I've taken the door off cos opening and closing it all the time gets annoying, but it looks pretty sleek sitting on the desk next to my 19'' widescreen.

The 6800 series are good cards but their pricing sux. I was looking around on ebay and they are closing for way over what they are worth. Get a 7600GT or a 7900GS. You should be able to find a brand new 7600GT for $130 or less and a 7900GS for $170. The ATI X1950Pro is a good card too but I'm a NVidia fan .
