| Apex Tech God | Im getting 250$ for christmas from my mom for computer parts. I want to go AM2 but dont have the money so I picked this. DFI LanParty UT nF4-D ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail at Newegg.com AMD Athlon 64 FX-55 2.6GHz Socket 939 Processor - OEM at Newegg.com I'm just looking for a MoBo and CPU .. For the mobo I want good overclocker, sli, and 184pin memory slots the CPU I would like to keep the FX-55 or if someone could find something as fast and cheaper Im all ears. I'll have to wait till after christmas for VIdeocards. It all depends on how much money a get. But I want to try to get 2 off these. XFX Geforce 6800XT PVT42EUDE3 Video Card - Retail at Newegg.com Or one of these. XFX GeForce 7900GT PV-T71G-UCF7 Video Card - Retail at Newegg.com Im leaning more toward the 6800s for the SLi I have a SLI PSU, HDD, and semi-new Ram. So Im pretty much set with that stuff. | Mastah Overclocker | The FX-55 is 130NM and is a realy old stepping, they don't OC as well as the 146 Opty (10x 2.0GHZ) for 90$ AMD Opteron 146 2.0GHz Socket 939 Processor - Retail at Newegg.com Or the 105$ 148 (11x Multi 2.2GHZ) AMD Opteron 148 2.2GHz Socket 939 Processor - Retail at Newegg.com Either one should hit the 3+GHZ mark, I had good luck with the 146! (2.8~2.9GHZ with the FX-55 was about it!) You could even go for the dual core version at 155$ wich is 1.8GHZ with a 9x Multi...they will do around 2.8GHZ or more. AMD Opteron 165 1.8GHz Socket 939 Dual Core Processor - Retail at Newegg.com For the motherboard, you should get the SLI DR for 123$, it was the one I used and kicked major ass! DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 SLI-DR ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail at Newegg.com OFcourse I allready said if you sold off the NF-3 board, chip, ram and Vid card, you would have more than enough to pay for a E6300, Gigabyte DS-3, and 1GB of DDR2 800 E6300 179$ Intel BX80557E6300 Core 2 Duo E6300 Processor 1.86GHz, 1066FSB, LGA775, 2MB Cache at ZipZoomfly Gigabyte DS3 145$ Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 P965 Express Socket 775 1066MHz DDR2 Motherbaord at ZipZoomfly OCZ 1GB (2x512) DDr2-800 115$ OCZ OCZ2G8001GK DDR2 PC2-6400 Gold GX XTC Dual Channel Memory Retail at ZipZoomfly Total 439$ -250 Mom 189$ Old parts: 40$ NF-3 250 DFi 30$ 754 3000+ 75$ Corsair Ram Vid card 125$ 270$ You should end up with 80$ to put towards a new vid card, or get better ram with! (Typically, 1 single mid range card is faster than 2 low end cards in SLI) And I also mentioned if you wait till after X-Mas, or look for sales between now and then, you might even be able to get the new parts for much less! Worst case scenario, you wait till Jan when the E4300 comes out, they are going to be around 130$!
