Default Help finding video card for mobo

Let me start out by explaining why I will be needing another video card.

I am replacing a burned up 9800 pro that I had used for a little over 2 years. The card fried and now I am looking to replace it with something very cheap because I no longer use my PC for gaming.

my mobo is a Gigabyte GA-K8NS Ultra-939 and I am looking for a video card that will work nice for casual use and would be cheap because I don't plan on using it after I complete my next project.... But it will have to support dual monitors.

Any advice would help.

Thanks guys!

Well for like 25-35$ you can get a MX-440 or a 5200...Ati has the 9200 series in that price range too.

Cheap is such a wide open area man..a "Cap" would be nice so we know what we have to work with

A 6200 will be pretty cheap, almost certainly do dual monitors, and be closer to the 9800 than the 5200 would be.

My advice is go with apassive cooled low profile 6200 card. It should serve you well and can be used in a HTPC if you plan on building one in the future. They go for around $40 for a new card and $34 for an open box on newegg.

well there has been a change of plans, and now I am looking for a video card for the new mobo I picked up instead of replacng the video in my old one
The new mobo is
a
GA-K8N-SLI and I was just wondering if this video card would work for just casual use and watching DVDs and whatnot.... My knowlage about video cards is very limited, so I just wanted to make sure the two are even compatable before I put money down on it.

Or if you know of anything cheaper that would work it would really help me out because im just trying to fix my broken PC and I really don't have much money to work with right now due to current job issues.

Thanks a lot guys.

I might suggest avoiding the "Turbocache" 6200s, because they have reduced video memory on board, instead stealing from system memory to make the difference up. Further, that specific 6200 has a fan, and that's just a part to fail later.

It seems like non-turbocache 6200s are hard to find, but you might at least look at the different 6200TCs. Some have a 64-bit bus and others only 32.

Well, I'll be: A fanless NF4 board. Had I seen this, I could see myself picking it over the 939SLI32 I got instead, although it WAS $3 cheaper and has Firewire.
