Should be fine, I don't think I have heard of an Acer 7600..are you getting this from Tiger Direct or something?

The 3000+ should be good for 2.4~2.6GHZ with basic air cooling, but a 3200+ would be a better choice and its only a few bucks more and has a higher multiplier (10x) and is much easier to OC.

With the 3000+ you are stuck with 9x, and you RAM will do 250FSB (Maybe more with tweaking, but just for arguments sake)

9x250=2250MHZ
10x250=2.5GHZ

In order to reach 2.5GHZ on a 3000+ you will need a FSB of 278! This means you will have to run a memory divider (Wich isn't all that bad) and do quite a bit more tweeking.

Even better would be a 3500+ with the 11x multiplier, and with the recent pricecuts from AMD, they are prety damn cheap, so you might as well take advantage of it!

11x250=2750MHZ potential without using a memory divider

Although any one of these is capable of 2.4~2.8GHZ, the 3500+ would be the easiest to set up and require the least amount of voltage (In general, not to mention you don't have to spin the crap out of the board!)
