Default GF Ti4400 or PNY FX5500

My friend want to buy a FX 5500 from PNY to replace his GF Ti 4400. is the FX5500 better than the GF Ti4400. I told him to save and buy a GF 6600le at least.

Thx.

I'd say its better, but not by a whole lot. Saving is the way to go.

What I do is this... save 200 bucks, buy older gen video card = great value + great preformance

The FX5500 being an agp 8X and DX9 card, yes it's better.
However, I do agree he should with the 6600.

Man he must be realy cheap, or looking at old leftover stock at Best Buy!

Pricewatch shows the FX 5500 going from 35~55$!

Though it has more support for things like DX-9, the 4400 is probably slightly more powerfull in older DX-8 games.

Neither one have the horsepower for a good DX-9 game like Doom 3 or BF-2 at anything but super low res and no detail...

80$ will get him into the 6600LE, but that is a waste of time IMO.

85$ will get him a full on 6600 with 8 pipes

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814143056

100$ will get him a 12 pipe X-1600 Pro!

There might even be better deals if he looks harder, I spent 5 minutes!

You might even try and talk him into:
http://www.directron.com/128a8n343ax.html
if they have any left. It's supposedly a full 6800 (AGP, 128M) for $115 plus postage.

Thx for the info. Yeah i'm going to let him test three of my card so he can know which one to order. The card i'm letting him test are PNY FX5500 128mb PCI, BFG 6600gtoc128mb, and a PNY 6800gt256mb. All are AGP except the FX5500.

He doesn't have much money and all he plays is counter strike source. He wants a card that will get a better score on the stress test.

He get 80 FPS on the test all setting med. His system spec AMD 3000+ 754. MSi Neo something 1 gig of ram and the Asus GF Ti 4400.

I'm going to give him my Abit av8 3rd eye since i dont use. so he is ordering a 3800+.

With $250 you could get a basic PCIE mobo and a $175 7600GT (Edit: oh, crud, didn't mean 7800). Why would you choose a 6800GS over that, unless you had a SEVERE emotional attachment to AGP.
