right im doing an upgrade soon
starting this upgrade there will be a motion towards a larger chain of events

atm i have 3 rigs
1x opti165,asrockDS2,1gig ram,9800pro 128mb (Water cooling)
1xA64 3400+,gigabyte ga-k8ns (rev 2.0)512 ram, 6200 256mb
1x p4 2.4A, gigabyte mobo (cant remember type), 1gig ddr 333,geforce mx4 4000 128mb


i want to get a new graphics card for my opti rig and i ahve a bugget of 335 GBP
im wondering an x1900xt with a core speed at 550 mhz and a ram speed of 1500 mhz and 48 pixel pipelines or a 7900gt with a core speed of 600mhz and a ram speed of 1450 mhz and only 24 pixel pipelines
which one should i get personaly im swaying t'wards ATI at this moment in time

so here is the beuty of the thing
the 9800 pro is getting put into the a64 rig and the 6200 into the p4
But within the next 6 months i am looking to upgrade my cpu 2
and im left to wonder again

should i go with the intel conroe or the amd's K8L
intels dual core conroe that gives up FPU for interger performance
or AMDs K8L quad core that has good FPU and Interger performace ?

i wanted to hold out till Vista was released b4 upgrading as then i could and would get a DX10 Graphics card but god knows when that will be

i know the saying that if i hold out theres allways something better .....

BUT

is DX10 realy gona be worth it?

can it be got without having to get vista ?

I would say... Wait for Conroe and get an X1900XT. Or you could get a X1800XT, for £170 and then get a directX10 card. ATi said that the R600 is going to be their BEST ever DirectX9 aswell as a DirectX10 card.

I think DX10 is going to be a Vista only thing, but XP is set to get an equivalent I believe.
