Default Power Tool Decisions...

I'm looking at getting a few shop tools. I want to get a 10" drill press and a 4" / 8" bench sander.

Ryobi VS. Delta, FIGHT!...

I have never owned a Ryobi tool that lasted as long as it should. Delta, yes...but even their quality has dropped over the years. We just picked up a Rikon drill press for our shop, and the quality is so much better than the Delta it replaced...it nearly brings tears to my eyes. The best part is: It was cheaper than the Delta too.

There is not enough disk space on the server that hosts the database for this site to store the amount of text I would have to type to explain to you how cheap and crappy ryobi is. get my point?

let me be 100% clear on this you cant go wrong with Makita tools, i have an old 12v cordless drill that i have had for about 8 years now, i have dropped it off 15' ladders and buried it under piles of brick and still been able to power thru, anything that i needed. I know I know they are expensive but my savior is The Makita Factory where they sell Refurebed Tools for like 1/3 the cost!

HILTI!!!
If you have something that you cant get thru with your cordless, than may be you need to think about getting a hilti, some of the best industrial grade gear i have ever used! Check them out at the US Hilti Factory

Well, I just got a Ryobi 10" press from Home Depot and even in putting it together I can tell it is cheap. But I don't plan on using it that much so I am okay with that. Besides, I spent my cash on the Dremel 1800 Scroll Saw which will see much more usage. If you are limited to Delta vs Ryobi, I would say the Delta.

That said, I have to agree with denacopoliez, Makita is da shiznit. The top of my tool list is Makita, Hilti, DeWalt, Portor Cable, Dremel. Of course all I own is a Makita 18v cordless drill and the Dremel 1800. But that's just cause I don't have need for those tools.
