![]() | Hey whats up everyone i bought everything for my comp so i was just wondering if you guys could give me advice for installing a big heatsink without snapping the MOBO in two. I have a Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe Board and a Zalman CNPS7000B-Cu HS, see this is my first build and dont want to screw up anything. But i wont be building my comp just yet, im in the process of moving next month so i've packed up just about everything. Thanks in Advance... |

Just put down the ststic bag and the pink ( or whatever color) foam pad that your board came with on a flat surface ( desk or ?? ) and install the HS , and ram ( ram first if it looks like its gonna be a tight fit installing it after the HS. BEST ADVICE - TAKE YOUR TIME , oh and set up the case for the mobo ( stand offs) before assmbeling the mobo / HS , that way its easier to handle the mobo to make sure you got all the standoffs in the right place.

Hmmm.... Yeah i knew that part about the RAM and placing bag under the mobo. But uhh im talking about like handling the board after you install the heatsink, i know i can't pick it up by the heatsink it will snap the mobo in half and i think if i pick the board up by the edges(i use ESDwrist strap also) i wish it would of been easier to handle the board once the heatsink is installed. My case is a Thermaltake Tsunami Dream it doesn't have a detachable mobo tray kinda wish it did have one. | |||||||||||||||||||||||

Correct. Quit worrying dude, its not gonna break if you pick it up by the HSF, although I wouldnt advise that anyway. Just pick it up by the edges and carefully drop it in (not literally)

Again just take your time and be careful, you'll do fine. a motherboard actually has a bit of flex to it, although i wouldnt go testing the limits of it, so as long as you pay attention you should do just fine.

Also, the tsunami dream has a special standoff in the middle (with a knob on the top). This will ensure that the motherboard can rest in place while you attach the other screws

| Apex Tech Fanatic | Like everyone has said, just pick it up by the edges. It would take a lot more than that to crack the mobo. I'm sure you'll do fine.
