Question Usb ports

I recently bought one of these...

It has what I guess is a standard connector. The connector won't just fit onto my motherboard. But thats not my problem as I can change out the connector for singles or doubles or what ever I need.
My problem is this....I have a 16 pin usb header on my motherboard.....

with only two of them labled as no connect. That still leaves me with 14 pins.
and those 14 are labeled differently than the pinout chart that came with the usb bracket.....

Can anyone tell me what wires to go to which pins on the header?
Or can I connect it at all?

Is this on a Gateway? Some of them had a proprietary connector that looked like this:

http://support.gateway.com/s/MOTHERB...M0006131.shtml

Still, a front connection may be possible, although it sounds like it may only be for one port. Each port uses four pins: Ground (black), Data+ (green), Data- (white), and 5V power (red). My guess is you could use any ground pin, pin 16 for power, and pins 9 and 11 for data. But I don't know which is + and which is -, and I don't know if connecting them backwards would hurt your motherboard and/or USB device.

If you're trying to add a port, the page linked above sounds like it's actually rerouting one of the existing ports on the motherboard, rendering it useless. So it might not work for getting one more USB port.

The bracket you bought is not for your M/B.You will need to cut off connector and use individual pins or create yourself an adapter.Jo

As I said, and I quote myself, I can change out the connector for singles or doubles or what ever I need.

That is just like the connector on my motherboard, which is an Intel WS440BX. If connecting only one port is possible, then i'll just wait till I get my new mobo installed, but I can't do that till I get a cpu and ram.
