Default Comparing X1800XL and XT

Im gonna be in the market for a new graphics card soon. My 3D1 is starting to get old and doesn't perform too well in some newer games.

On paper its a 256Mb card, but in reality its two 128Mb cards which don't cope with high resolutions very well in games like FEAR.

Im an nVidia man, but not a fanboy. I go where the performance is, and right now thats with ATi. Ive been looking at the X1800 series and have to say im impressed.

So basically my question is, whats the difference (beside the large price gap) between the X1800XT and X1800XL.

My other components will remain the same, in the sig, so how much of a performance increase should I expect? Im currently getting about the 7000 mark in 3DMark'5 if that helps.

TIA.

The two big differences between the XT and the XL are RAM and clock speeds.

XT: 625/750, 512MB memory
XL: 500/500, 256MB memory

Also, the XT's use a better core revision which allow far higher overclocks. Most XL's hit close to stock XT speed at max on air, and XT's can hit 740-760 core, 860-900 memory on average.

The stock XL will get about 7000 on 05, and a stock XT will get about 9000. Flashing the XT to the new, high perfomance BIOS (700/800) will get you right below 10000 in 05.

I would save up and get an XT if I were you.
