Default Gigabyte 3D Aurora

Well.. I'm looking to get a new case and my curiosity is peaked by these two cases:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811233003

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811233002

The only real difference I see between the two is the side panel design. Has anyone dealt with this case and know how good they are? Knowing how the Egg reviews are, I'm hesitant to go by some of the "advanced" user reviews that they have listed.

Nice cases,

I'd go for the first one, with the bigger window. Those cases look like they'd have some really good air flow, and that's always something I look for in a case. Good asthetics too.

I was actually leaning more towards that one out of the two to begin with due to the window. I also like the custom LED action that you can do for the bottom front of the case.

Those cases are sweet.

Especially good for watercooling I imagine, im pretty sure they both have pre-drilled holes at the back for tubing. Makes mounting an external rad easier I imagine

I'd go with the window too, the mesh side panel looks like an invitation for dust and an exit for mechanical noise. Dex is right, according to reviews at other sites there are 2 pre-drilled holes with rubber grommets for 1/2" ID tubing just below the rear 120mm fan hole.

Those are nice cases they are but i'm thinking why not take the money and get one of these http://www.xoxide.com/chenming901.html

for $39.99 imagine what all the mods u can do to this and still come out cheaper.
If u don't want to mod something then i'll mod it for u for a far price and u would still come out cheaper.

I remember reading that when those cases were first previewed, Gigabyte just hyping up that fact that they were made for WCing, like through and through. I think it actually has like holes for 2 120mm fans on the back, which would mount on top of the rad.

While I do enjoy the thought of a case like that, M&C... I have to take weight into consideration. Since I take my computer when I go out of town it has to be decently portable. Also, I have to use a cane, so the case has to be able to be picked up with 1 hand. I have a strapset that I use with my current Lian-Li clone case that works great.. but any higher or heavier of a case and my straps will either not reach or if they do... snap.

In reference to the "holes"... the case comes with 2 120mm fans preinstalled in the back. So you could actually install the rad on the outside of the case and use the current fans on the inside... or even switch out the fans if you so desire. The pregrommeted holes at the bottom back are indeed for W/Cing. They are there if you are using an external res system. I would probably be going with an internal res and just modding those wholes for some other function.

I'd go for the windowed flavour - mesh will let everything in there!

I've read plenty of reviews on that case - I can't fault it at all

On the other hand, what's to keep you from popping that gnarly mesh out, expanding the window cutout a bit into something more "custom" in nature, and topping it off with a sweet custom etched window?

The pics of the windowed one seem to show a larger opening, thus not much room for customization of the window shape, at least when compared to the mesh side panel opening... Some food for thought, aries...

(reference your sig if you get stuck...)

Very sharp and nice looking case , I would also go for the one with the window myself.

And here I thought my sig just went unnoticed all this time What I had considered doing with the mesh panel case was as follows:

1. Take out stock mesh
2. Expand and customize the opening
3. Replace stock mesh with either carbon fibre film or modders mesh from MNPC
4. Put replacement for mesh behind an acrylic window
5. Find a skilled etcher to custom etch the window (my etching and artistic skills are seriously gimp)
6. Replace the blue LEDs for a consistant lighting scheme
7. Revamp bottom extruding panel on the front of the case
8. Possibly add some powder-coat imbedded handles into the top (for looks for me and practicle for others)
9. Add a custom wrap to the right panel for that artistic flair
10. Open up the top panel that's just screaming to be cut.
11. Anything else that comes to mind while working on it.

But the more I look at it.. the more I realize that I can do this with either case only sacrificing a little cutting room on the windowed case over the meshed case.

Actually... I was thinking more along the line of the handles that were used in the WoW case as seen here:

By the way... good job on that pimped out case, MNPCTech

Why, of course we notice the stuff people put in their sigs... every once in awhile, all that jibber-jabber helps to make a good point...

In all honesty, carbon fiber would be sweet to replace the mesh with, but if you can afford it, for God's sake man, get real .2mm 2x2 twill (you can find it in sheets for cheaper on ebay or at driftfactory.com), that vinyl stuff looks like butt IMO
