Default Whats a good LCD moniter

I have a flatscreen CRT moniter, and i'm starting to wonder how much life is left in it. (its starting to flicker from time to time, that was the first warining sign for my old moniters.)

I want to get a new LCD moniter does anyone have any recomendations? I do a fair amount of gaming so i don't want anything that is gonna ghost on me.

right now this moniter has my eye just because of its 2ms response time, I'm not too sure what to think about the brand name though, and i wish it were bigger.

If anything I was hoping I could get a moniter that is at least 20 inches, I'm not sure what an acceptable response time is for games.

And since i'm on the computer all the friggin time, money is not a problem, I figure that for 500 bux i can get something pretty decent. (and hopefully doesn't have any dead pixles.)

the dell or acer 20 inch wides (the new models) have 8ms pixel responses (i think the old was 25ms) or you can see what ever is on sale during the weekends. personally i like the new NEC's LCDs with the gloss antglare but you can get the same thing with most monitors by stripping off the antiglare sheet.
$500 can ge you a 21 inch crt but not a with a sony tube.

It woudl be a crime if i did not tell you to buy the best out there!!!

LG has been my brand of choice since i built a tactical display wall on my last ship we had 12 52" DLP displays and all of the LCD's were LG but the ones that i loved the most were these 19" monitors. The responce was great and our "applications" looked great if you DoD types know what i am talking about.

I would suggest either the Dell 2005fpw or the new Gateway 21" lcd if you need HDCP. I would suggest the Dell 2405 or 3007 but with such high resolutions, you will need a video card upgrade much more frequently as more demanding games are put out. Check out http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/ for more info on gaming on a widescreen monitor. (as the name suggests)

I have a pair of the Dell 2005FPW and love them. If you keep an eye out for stackable coupons and stuff you can get them for around $350-380 which is a steal.

well what is an acceptable response time for games? I'm really not sure, i got nothing to base it off of. At the moment this LG screen has my eye http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...8366&CatId=170 cause i like the price, i love the brand, but is an 8ms response time too slow?

Don't discount Samsung. They make fine LCD's. I have a 19" (940B) and I love it. I run FEAR with no ghosting (8ms response) and I think I paid around $325 for it. Oh, and not a single dead pixle.
