Dead tech.

It's piling up in the garage.

4X CD Changers
600 dpi scanners
An old fax machine

The stuff works but no one would even bid $1 for it on eBay. The technology is so old .... so old ....

So what to do? Call a tech recycler? They'll want me to pay them. Trash? I really haven't the heart as this stuff was worth THOUSANDS new. Save it for a rainy day? That may never come?

I need some suggestions here

Put it up on your local Craigslist for a low price or for free.

Spec is right , post it on CG. If you were here in the bay area i could give you a place that picks up and takes tech stuff free. You might see if they ahve a place near you though , it E Waste Recyclers

Or mail it to me like HTRN does. He mails all his junk to me and I put it to use. Im practically a junk house whore now.

Damn stuff is too heavy to mail to Nerdz otherwise I might.

I don't know why I didn't think of Craigslist - I g0t rid of a half-ton playhouse just a few weeks ago and have a few other items [two chairs, drafting table] I was gonna get rid of that way.

We gonna have a Craigslist New Years Eve Party! W00t!

I would have donated it to my local Disable American Veterans association and written it off my taxes.

Well I managed to give away a scanner at my New Year's Eve party and that was it [tech-wise].

I guess I could donate it to Goodwill or somebody else but I hate to. It's not the giving away, it's the burdening the non-technical with dead tech. They'll never sell it - I couldn't even give it away. I'd hate for some eventual buyer to come back seeking tech support... It feels like giving someone else problems.

So it'll have to sit in my garage a bit longer while I figure out if I can sneak it onto some tech recyclers doc in the dead of the night.

Or something.
