Default PC i will be building soon.. pls advise

Ive chosen this set up but i'd just like to know if anyone sees any compatibility issues or any possible upgrades...

AMD Athlon 64 3700+ Socket 939 1MB Inc Fan
Corsair 2GB DDR XMS3200PT TwinX
Abit AN8 SLi PCI-E SKT939 NF4 Retail Box
Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 Plus NCQ 120GB SATA 8MB Cache
Mitsumi OEM Black Internal Floppy Drive 1.44mb 3.5 Inch
NEC ND3540A 16x DVD±RW Dual Layer Internal IDE (Black) - OEM
CoolerMaster Centurion 530 - Black (No PSU) (CA-083-CM)
Kensington Black PS2/USB Keyboard
Enermax Noisetaker 535W EG565AX-VE(W) SFMA ATX2.0 SLI
Viewsonic VE710s 17" LCD Monitor - Silver
XFX GeForce 7800GT Extreme Edition 256MB

will the 535W be enough if i stick another 7800GT in there at a later date ?

Also for the mobo Asus seems to be quite popular. would the Asus A8N-SLi SE nForce4 SLi be a better choice ?

I might get the Saitek PZ30AU Eclipse Illuminated Keyboard if ive got some spare cash as well.

Finally i dont need a bigger hard drive than 120GB. this rig is primarily for gaming and not storing movies, etc.

thanx for any help or suggestions.

I like your build so far, but the only thing i would change would be that enermax PSU......theyve gone down hill rescently. This is speaking from personal experience also. Id suggest the Hiper 580 watt or one of the newer Ultra PSU's, and if you dont like either of those Antec has always proven to be rock solid.

In regards to the PSU... definitely go with a more powerful PSU. 535W is going to cut it EXTREMELY close if you are going to be adding another 7800. As far as the mobo goes... might I suggest either the DFI Lanparty UT nForce4 SLI-D or the DFI Lanparty UT nForce4 SLI-DR.

Otherwise it looks like a rocking system in the making... good job and I look forward to seeing a worklog on this project.

The Hiper HPU-4K580-MK Type R 580W psu looks a good choice and it costs less than the Enermax so thanx for that suggestion.

The problem with the DFI board is its about $65-70 more expensive than the Abit board although it does look great.

Ok then, Buy the non-sli version and mod it to take sli (it supports dual graphics anyway), and my advice is too get a 3000 venice, these things will OC to fx-57 speeds.

Perhaps you could 'ditch the stock AMD cooler and buy a quality one from Zalman, Scythe, Thermalright,
Thermaltake, etc... be tter performance with less noise! Plus these allow for some overclocking...

I could probably stretch for the DFI board because the Abit seems to have mixed reviews.

I'll see what the stock cooler is like before upgrading. Its supposed to be ok but we'll see.

The stock cooler works just fine. It is a little loud and does not get your cpu as cold as it could, but its free. (pretty much)

This is the spec at the moment but ive got a couple more questions...

AMD Athlon 64 3700+ Socket 939 1MB Inc Fan

Corsair 2GB DDR XMS3200PT TwinX
DFI Lanparty UT NF4 SLI-D, nForce4 SLI PCIe Skt939 2000FSB
Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 Plus NCQ 120GB SATA 8MB Cache
Mitsumi OEM Black Internal Floppy Drive 1.44mb 3.5 Inch
NEC ND3540A 16x DVD±RW Dual Layer Internal IDE (Silver) - OEM
CoolerMaster Centurion 531 - Silver (No PSU) (CA-083-CM)
Kensington Black PS2/USB Keyboard
Hiper HPU-4K580-MK Type R 580W Modular ATX2.2 PSU - Red UV
Viewsonic VE710s 17" LCD Monitor - Silver
XFX GeForce 7800GT Extreme Edition 256MB

Should I get the Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 NCQ 160GB SATA-II 8MB Cache ? This is the 3Gb/s drive with only 1 platter to increase density and hence better performance.

Ive read that the Seagate Barracuda 7200.7's arent very quiet during accessing.

Thanx for any comments or suggestions

The only thing I can see to change at this point would be the monitor. I love the Viewsonics..they're solid and look good, but this one doesn't have the DVI connector. If you're gaming, you won't get the full power of your card out of a VGA connection (you'll get a bit of diffusion at edges from what I've seen). I know it's expensive to upgrade in this area, but you might look at the VX series if you can afford one. They give the high response speed (the 8ms you have listed is a good speed) and a DVI connection.

Regardless, it's going to be a cool system.

XFX GeForce 7800GT Extreme Edition 256mb
Hiper Type R 580W Modular ATX2.2 PSU
NEC ND3550A 16x DVD±RW DL IDE
