Hey, This case looks like the Chenming mATX-118. The dimensions are identical, for sure. It's available for $76 at newegg.com: Chenming case at newegg But you have to take shipping into account, which is $16. I just thought that might be a little bit cheaper. I have Aspire's modification of this case called the X-Qpack: X-Qpack at newegg It's almost identical except that you can get it in different colors and it's a little bit more expensive. The case may look small, but I found it to be pretty bulky when I actually got it. While it's very flexible because it can take most standard ATX components, that flexibility also makes it pretty big and heavy. I am now tempted to either get a laptop or one of those proprietary small form factor cases. As the previous poster said, maybe you should move this to another forum. If you have more questions about the case, I will be glad to answer. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Welcome to PR. Both of you! inkbrush, good job on the advice! Keep that up and you'll get a lot of rep. I'll give you some right now, actually! That case does look good. If you see something you like that is cheaper, go with it. Nothing is limiting you except your own wallet. | ||

| Apex Techie Lite | Oh hey my friend has the aspire case. We ran into a rather large problem with the case: The mATX board he bought was an Intel with 24 pin ATX power leads to the motherboard. The case supplies a PSU with only the 20 pin variant power connector. He was having major issues with his computer and running games. So we did the usual trouble shooting (ie making sure things were plugged in correctly, settings... etc. ). Finally we tried my coolermaster 450W psu with 24 pin output. Turns out the voltage on the 12V would drop below spec and force a restart on the machine. To make a long story short, my friend had to put in a larger PSU into the case. It was a TIGHT fit but it was possible. Just wanted to give heads up. Note: they may have changed the PSU since he bought it (summertime) | |

| Apex Techie Wannabe | Hi, I myself built the case using GeForce 6800 GT AGP and an old Pentium 4 2.4 Ghz. I think if you get the right power supply, the 7800 should work fine as well. I think the height for graphic cards are standardized (even though the length isn't) so you won't have too much trouble fitting it in. Many people have been saying that the mini psu that comes with the case is junk, so I didn't even bother trying it out. I just used a normal Antec ATX power supply. I hear the Seasonic S12 cases are very good. Maybe you might want to pair that up with your 7800 GT. The trick is making sure you get a psu and a DVD drive with the right depth. If I remember correctly, the case has a depth of around 14 inches. My power supply had a depth of around 5.5 and the DVD drive (a NEC ND-3540A, replaced by the ND-3550A), around 8 inches, I think. That left barely enough room to squeeze in the power connector to the DVD drive. I am not sure if all standard ATX PSU and DVD drives are supposed to fit into the case or "most of them." It's a little bit annoying but when you order the components, look up their dimensions to make sure they are short enough to fit into the case. The case is precisely made to have a very tight dimension. If you buy some non-standard custom components like a big CPU heatsink, it might have some trouble fitting it in. Other issues with the case was the noise and heat level. Because of its small size and thin materials, a lot of sound comes through. I ended up getting extra quiet coolers for my CPU and graphics card. Since I have an old Pentium 4, overheating was not too much of an issue, but I noticed as much as 8 celsius degree temperature difference between the case being open and being closed. The 12mm fan that came with my case was extremely loud, but some people on newegg.com said their fan was fine, so maybe it's no longer an issue. I was dreaming of a very small and portable PC case when I bought it. It's a little bit bigger than my expectations. It makes up for its short height by its extra wide width. Nonetheless, it's an interesting and flexible case. | |
