Default Receiver That Will Pass HDMI Audio and Video?? (advice/help)

title kind of says it all. I am looking for suggestions/helps to find a receiver that will pass the video as well as the audio through my HDMI cables.

the only thing I have seen that might work is the Yamaha HTR-6080

There are quite a few of them,
really.

Sony Home Theater system (HT-7000DH)
Sony HTDDW900 Home theater
Sony STR-DG800

Those three are just from a brief scan of "receiver"+"HDMI passthrough" on Google.

Real questions here are, how many channels do you want, how much money are you willing to spend, what is the definition of the TV you have (720p, 1080i, 1080p ...)

Etceteras. We need more info to help you.

I don't want a home theater system, I have speakers, and the sony's, if you look at the fine print/specs, you will find that there is issues with the audio/video through HDMI (whee is passes through etc...)

As for channels 5.1 or 7.1 is fine just as long as it can do what I want. I am willing to go up into the 800$ range. Right now all I have is a 20" LG (720p) but I am looking to get a 32".

You're going to find some sort of issue with any component you look at, unless you're willing to fork out much more than $800.

Okay, given that, how about these:
Sony STR-DG1000 AV receiver reviews - CNET Reviews
Sony STR-DG1000, doesn't seem to have issues with audio, but the upconversion from standard def is weak

Onkyo TX-SR674 (black) AV receiver reviews - CNET Reviews
Okyo TX-SR674 but again, upconversion of video signals doesn't seem to be very good (don't know if you can turn off the upconversion ... maybe).

That's just two of them.

Seriously, do some research. There are plenty of receivers that do passthrough. If you're not willing to research online, perhaps a visit to your local bestbuy, tweeter, or audio specialty store is a better idea.

good luck,

I am wondering why your are bothering to post/reply to me? No offense but you making the assumption that I have not done any research is annoying, I have been for several months. And the fact that you suggested the models you did and the fact that you told me to go to best buy and have links to cnet reviews is an indicator(s) that you don't know what your talking about. I was looking for suggestions from people who are more knowledge in the field and have experience using receivers, preferably at the higher end. Maybe its my fault for not making that clear, but uh yeah. I guess I'll solider on alone.

Gee, I'm sorry. Your initial post merely said that you were looking for receivers that had HDMI passthrough, and the only one you could find was the Yamaha. So, right -- I didn't assume you'd done months of research, because finding ONE receiver with HDMI passthrough after months of research seems a bit inept.

Actually, it's indication that I actually did some research FOR YOU, which you gave no indication you were competent of performing. But if you are, then perhaps you should have re-stated your question without the snide attitude. And perhaps even a quick "thanks for trying to help" would have been appropriate.

You will now.

Good luck.
