Question Ram Compatability

I've been wanting to upgrade to 4Gigs of ram, i'm currently running some Kingston DDR2 2GB PC-5300/667 (2x1GB) CL5 Value Ram (http://www.centrecom.com.au/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=115_23&products_id=23471) and i want to add another set, but on the Asus website (http://www.asus.com/999/download/pro...55/1655_10.pdf) it says that it does not support 4 modules of this ram but that list was published halfway through 2007 and they have made lot's of bios updates for Memory and CPU Compatibilities. I've been searching forums and found some people are running 4 of these modules on this board but i would like to know if anyone is running 4 of these Modules or can find an updated list of supported memory.

The Memory your using is slow value ram. You'd be better off investing in some faster memory. If you want 4GB then you'll also be better off buying a 2x2GB kit.

Your overclocking your cpu so the faster ram is going to give a boost, plus it will probably allow you to clock your cpu higher. And your using a 32-bit Operating System so it's probably not going to utilize all 4GB's anyways. Plus, using 4 sticks instead of 2 may require you to reduce your cpu overclock.

Just buy 4gb of matched decent speed stuff. I wouldn't bother mixing and matching budget RAM.

Honestly, you can get a decent 4 gig set for about 90 bucks on Newegg.com. I got the gskill set and it runs like a champ - I couldn't be happier, especially for the money. And I agree, that running 2x2gig sticks as opposed to 4x1gig sticks would be an ideal situation.
