| Before I drop $1,200 at newgg I just wanted to run this by you guys to see what some of you think. I do not plan to overclock or run RAID (too scared), and I game a little but not too much so i'm not planning on running Crossfire. I love Nvidia but from what I've read I can get this ATI card I have here for cheaper and get better performance. I'm not going quad-core b/c dual-core is cheaper and runs faster, and I do not think I'll have any use for a quad-core. Also, I already have 4 HDDs (two are raptors) so I do not need anymore. This is what I'm about to order: CPU Cooler: XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 120mm Rifle CPU Cooler Power Supply: PC Power & Cooling PPCS750QBL Silencer 750W Quad Blue Case: COOLER MASTER cosmos S RC-1100-KKN1-GP Black Aluminum ATX Full Tower Motherboard: ASUS P5Q Deluxe LGA 775 Intel P45 Intel Motherboard Video Card: ASUS EAH4850/HTDI/512M Radeon HD 4850 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Memory: OCZ Reaper HPC 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 OCZ2RPR10664GK Media Drive: SAMSUNG 20X DVD±R DVD Burner with LightScribe Black SATA Model SH-S203N | ||

| On the Memory, I hope your going to be using a 64 bit OS, otherwise you're only going to be using about 3 gigs of it.

| Looks pretty good. You might consider the thermalright ultra 120 cpu cooler instead Newegg.com - Thermalright Ultra-120 CPU Cooling Heatsink - CPU Fans & Heatsinks | ||

Both coolers are good choices ... just be careful how you mount them, that RAM is TALL and requires that your CPU HSF not stray too far from the socket, or have a tall overhead. Speaking of RAM, I use that same stuff. Don't worry about the 32-bit OS, you'll end up have 3.5 GB of RAM for Winblows to use, which is excellent. But here's the catch: chances are, your mobo's default settings are for 1.8v on the DRAM (it looks like.) Your RAM runs at 2.2v. The mobo *might not* recognize the required timings / voltage requirements for your RAM so be prepared, if you have a couple of funky, unexplained things happening during install, to check the RAM settings. In fact, check the RAM settings before you install. ![]() BTW, your motherboard's manual can be acquired online here:ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support- -godling | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
