| If I am not mistaken (I was an AMD only guy at that time) the ASUS was THE board to have for old socket 478 P-4's according to my "Intel" buddies...just make sure the model number is "The good one" some of them were similar in name and features, but only one of them truely kicked ass ![]() I believe the DFI wasn't too shabby either, but I think there was some issue about memory dividers (Not having a working 2/3 divider or something like that) let me see if I can dig something up in the archives. EDIT: Found a review on the DFI, says they reached 300FSB, and got the ram to 260FSB (DDR520) wich does not sound too bad at all! X-bit labs - DFI LANPARTY PRO875B Mainboard on i875P Chipset Review (page 6) In the conclusion page at defaults it seems a hair slower then the ASUS, but ASUS has always been realy good at getting a few more points at default settings with a few "Tweeks" once you OC them and tune the bios, it often goes away, due to the other comapnies being a bit more conservative bios tuning at "Stock" EDIT 2: I checked out a review on the ASUS board, it uses a slightly older 865 chipset then the DFI, it too reached 300FSB, and they said it was CPU limited, so it may go higher. X-bit labs - ASUS P4P800-E Deluxe: New ASUS Mainboard on Old i865PE Chipset (page 11) Sounds to me like the 875 chipset is a bit newer, but I would wait for a true Intel fan from that era to weigh in. EDIT 3: Like I was saying earlier, there were many version of the P4C800...the "E" version is using the older 865 chipset, the other version uses the 875 chipset. You realy want to get you hands on the REGULAR P4C800, without the "E" [H] Enthusiast - ASUS P4C800 Deluxe EDIT 4: Ok...again..bear with me, since I was not an intel guy back then...another review shows the "E" version is an improved version of the regular P4C 800 Deluxe, and uses the 875 chipset...and it matches the old versions OC's, and has better memory compatability (Running 4x512) AnandTech: Asus P4C800-E: Updating the Intel Flagship Based on that review (Wich I trust more then the others) I would say the ASUS is the best choice, but make sure it has the 875 chipset!
