| Hey guys.. Need a couple questions answered. X3220 EVGA 750I FTW evga (superclocked) 650core/1900mem 8800gt sli g.skill 2x2 ddr2 800 or 1066? Yes I'm trying to pinch pennies, but at the same time don't want to sacrifice precious fps for a lousey 80 bucks that I cheated my new rig out of. -My new rig is consisting of a quadcore x3220 chip that I got for free, which is 1066fsb, should I spend the extra money to step up the ram from 800mhz to 1066mhz? Would that make a significant improvement? Also, is the evga 750i FTW board compatible with the g.skill ddr2 800mhz / 1066mhz dimms? anyone know thanks -Anyone have any idea if the evga 8800gt cards are going to be dropping in the next month or two.. or soon? -I'm wanting to buy windows vista but really could use a helping hand.. x3220 quadcore intel chip, do I want to buy 64 bit windows? Newegg.com - Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 English NA DVD - Operating Systems Is that the right product.. to buy for my new computer, that will be in my house.. I am not reselling or anything, I just want to purchase the full product to have and to be able to install and format my computer when needed. Also there's like 3 different versions.. is premium the best price/value? The next step up the 300 doller vista has more multimedia stuffs I believe? Thank you so much for the help guys! Does it need to be an evga? Gigabyte is having a great deal at NewEgg: 8800GT overclocked (700MHz core) for $179.99, plus a $40 rebate that brings it down to $139.99. Newegg.com - GIGABYTE GV-NX88T512HPV1 GeForce 8800GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards
I'm just getting Vista-32bit loaded myself, so not enough personal experience to help you there -- the benefits of 64-bit seem obvious, but I'm told that not all apps / games translate very well to that architecture. I'm sure someone else here will pipe up with more accurate information. -godling | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Sempr0n? | 8800GTs are very cheap at the moment so picking up a second one would be a nice investment. You should be sure though that you actually run games at the kind of resolution that would benefit (1680x1050 and above). The main benefit from 64-bit Windows is that you can access a full 4GB of RAM. That's basically it at the moment. I'm running Vista 64 Ultimate on both my desktop and my laptop. My desktop runs it like a dream, but my laptop struggles when I've got more than a few programs open; I'm not sure if this is because my desktop is so much faster or just because it has more RAM (4gb vs. 2gb). You don't really need to go for any more than Home Premium...Ultimate has a few extra bits, but they're a long way from essential. Home Premium has everything you need. | |
