Default I'm Wired!!!

Until I was introduced to the Logitech MX700 I was a trackball guy. The MX700 was the first wireless mouse I owned and I fell immediately in love with it. It was comfortable, responsive, and battery life was great. Everything was great in the world for a long time until I was hit with the upgrade bug.

I purchased an MX1000 thinking that it had to be at least 300 better than the MX700. Right from the get-go the mouse didn't feel comfortable to me, not near as nice as the MX700 did. But, I stuck with it for over a year and really tried hard to like it. Finally I started to notice a little lag and a jumpy cursor. I moved the receiver around, turned off any wireless devices, increased the resolution, tried using different mouse pads, but it didn't help. Every time I noticed a little bit of lag it bothered the hell out of me so that mouse ended up going away.

Next, I purchased the Logitech G7 after reading some really good reviews about it. It did feel more comfortable than the MX1000 but the battery time wasn't real great. A few days of hard use at the most before you had to swap the battery out. I then started to notice some lag and cursor jumping with this mouse as well. It was during the current review I am working on that I finally said enough is enough. I was having a hell of a time making precise movements in PhotoShop and it was taking twice as long as it should just to edit a single photo. Screw this wireless crap.

I just purchased a corded Logitech G5 and I am back in love again. It is comfortable, extremely responsive, and the movements are as precise as a Hanzo sword. I was able to get it to exactly the weight that I'm comfortable with and it works on any surface I put it on. The only drawbacks are that the surface where your hand lies is not completely smooth and the forward/back buttons and mouse wheels are soft - you don't get a responsive "click" when you use them.

So, I haven't gone completely full circle; I started with wired trackballs, went to wireless trackballs, to wireless mice, and am now back to wired mice. I've got to tell you I am very, very happy with my new G5 and being wired again.

Yup, I use a G5 at home and at work. I love them and always set the weight of mine to be the max it can be.

Hear that?

Whoooooooooosh!

That's the sound of me blowing past you both with my Razer Lachesis.

Blammmm!

That's the sound of me crashing it into a wall with my Razer Lachesis.

Seriously though, wired is the only way I'll mouse given a choice.

I do really like the fact Logitech added the second thumb button to the G5. In my opinion, it's the best mouse Logitech makes regardless of cost.

At least the customer service on my G7 was great.

Receiver was broken, so they sent me a new one no questions asked. So now I have four batteries. I like Razer mice. But I'm not really a finger user.

I had some tech support of Logitech's on the phone today. Bought a MX5000 Desktop @ CompUSA for 44.99. No receiver was included called up Logitech, they had none in stock, they are currently sending me a whole new unit. Free Keyboard Mouse setup, for 45 bucks. Good support, but they seem to taking their time in getting it to me.

Back on subject. Razer BOOMSlang 07 here I come.....
