| Apex Techie I | OCZ 500W StealthXStream Power Supply - OCZ500SXS I know OCZ is known for their memory modules, how are they with PSUs? I though I saw somewhere that they partnered with a quality brand that is well known for PSUs but doesn't have the recognition in the broader hardware market that OCZ has. It's got a 3 yr warranty. Thanks, Wurum | |

| I personally have the OCZ GameXStream 700W psu and it has been great. The one you are looking at there seems to not have very many connections on it. So the question I have to ask is, what do you plan to be able to run with this power supply? If you want to be able to run more than 2 SATA drives then this is probably not the PSU you really want. If you are only running 1 or 2 SATA drives and a couple cd/dvd drives with a midrange videocard then this should do you just fine but if you want to do more then it might not be the right PSU for you. | ||

| Apex Techie I | Thanks Snake2Snipe, I'm sorry, I should have been more specific up front, I was just so excited about the price on this thing and the free shipping. Allow me to rephrase the question. Assuming this power supply meets your needs, would you buy it. Or, put another way, would you buy this brand. Since my first post, I have read that OCZ acquired PC Power and Cooling, and it is basically the same PSUs with the OCZ badge. I know that PC Power and Cooling comes highly recommended on this forum, so I think I have a winner. I'm putting this into my old Athlon 64 2800+ / AGP / DDR 400 system to support a much more demanding video card that I'm getting. My existing 350W only has 16 A on a single 12v rail. | |

Depending how much you are willing to spend or could afford i would highly recommend one of these 3 PSU from newegg. PC Power & Cooling Silencer 610 EPS12V EPS12V 610W Continuous @ 40?C Power Supply 100 - 240 V UL, cUL, CE, CB, TUV Or this one here. PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750 Quad (Black) EPS12V 750W Power Supply 100 - 240 V UL, ULC, CE, CB, RoHS Even this one is a good deal. PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750 Quad (Crossfire Edition) EPS12V 750W Power Supply 100 - 240 V UL, CE, CB, RoHS

| Personally, if you buy a PC and Power cooling, you buy it for the long run, cause its lasts longer than a grain of sand in the desert. I'd save up more dough and get a 750 silencer which would probably last you a good 5+ years. But if you really have to "BUY IT NOW" go for the OCZ, its all gravy. ADD: The last two PSUs on Ranger's list are essentially the same stat wise, just have different PCI-E Connectors and Paint Jobs. They're both SLI Cert.. NewEgg needs to update their details.. | ||

Yeah, I thought about the longevity thing. I was thinking I could buy a good quality PSU with more watts that would last long enough that I could use it in my next system build. After this upgrade, I'll probably go another 2-3 years before I finally go PCI-e. By then who knows how much power we'll need. We're already seeing 2 gpus on one card, and the future is going to be more and more multi cores. Plus USB 3.0 will be standard. I might need 1500 watts by then! Anyway, I already put in my order for the OCZ500SXS.

| Bit late I'm afraid but there's a little information in this thread that says that PSU is a great choice. Apparently it's made by FSP and is one of the best budget PSUs you can buy. q6600 + others - Overclockers UK Forums | ||
