| Apex Techie Lite | I need a new video card cuz mine is not handling the new games that are coming out. There are the 2 i am looking at. Newegg.com - EVGA 512-P3-N841-A3 GeForce 8800GTS (G92) 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Retail this is the G92 version with less memory. $349.99 Newegg.com - EVGA 640-P2-N829-A3 GeForce 8800GTS SSC 640MB 320-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Retail 8800gts with 640mb ram. $389.99 I wonder if the new technology of the G92 is better than the basic 8800gts 640mb. I would love to save the extra 40 bucks (and the extra 30 dollar rebate of course), but I don't want to get a lesser quality product. Any suggestions? | |

| G92 GTS are better. It's not really a massive improvement, but when the cards cheaper aswell its worth it. Leadtek PX8800 GTS 512 - TrustedReviews NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB Performance Preview | ||

| Apex Techie Lite | I actually have an 8800gts 320mb right now. It's very solid, but would it be worth it to just grab another one ($219.99 on Newegg) and put them in SLI? I'm not sure which option to choose. Either go SLI with the one I already have and grab another one, or get the 512mb G92. | |

| Sempr0n? | To be honest, I wouldn't really bother after considering it further. What games is your 320mb GTS struggling with? It should be fine with just about everything other than Crysis. The G92 series are an improvement, but nothing more than that. I'd wait for a couple of months for the 9800 series to launch. | |

Reflux asks good questions, as usual. Another question: what resolution are you trying to play w/? 1650x1080 and up benefit significantly from SLI-type setups (Crossfire as well). But for anything under that, even 1280x1024 high settings, your 8800GTS should be doing fine. If you're going to upgrade, I'd SLI. Cost you a hundred bucks less, and you can always sell off both cards in the future to make cash for the 98xx series when they're released. If you even need them. -godling, still running on the 7800GS AGP that killert sold me ... ![]()

Two 320mb GTSs would make a formidable rig, but bear in mind the small frame buffer which will be a hindrance if the OP runs high resolutions.

Ah yes, I'd forgotten that about the GTSs.

| Apex Techie Lite | Well, i have a 24" Spectre monitor, and I have it running at 1920x1200. I love the resolution, but on things like Garry's Mod on Steam, it lags out pretty quickly and skips a lot during big matches of people. Things like WOW aren't much of a problem and I usually get around 60 fps, or somewhere in there. I'm just not sure which way I should go is all... I need some solid suggestions to make sure I have a good rig. Thanks guys! | |
