Default another dumb question

im not really up on the latest hardware. so i want to know if my new rig i have planed is worth the cost of upgrading or should i stay with what i got?


my rig now HP a1230n
an hp owned ausus mb non overclockable
AMD 64 3800+ 2.2 ghz 939 stock cooler

evga 8600 512
250 gb hd
windows media center (hp version)
hiper anubis case
600watt ultra power supply(stock one puffed out blue smoke and hp wanted 70 bucks for a new 250watt)

runs call of duty 4 with high settings quite well




what i want

MoBo bundle with cpu and ram
XFX 680I sli LT
cpu q6600 noctua nh-u9
Ram Corsair dule channle xms 2 pc6400 ddr2 2 gigs
and windows home cheapest
HD sergate 250 gig

all for around 650 bucks

Thats 470 bucks for a Quad Q6600,mobo,2Gb Corsair ram, 400gb HDD... not bad
You could save yourself 130 bucks or so by using the legit XP copy you got....

i did find a copy of xp pro in the trash i let my uncle install it on his pc but he said mirosoft wodent let him ues it saying it was allready registerd to some one els there away around that or is that ileagl?

How about the copy for your HP computer, or are you going to keep it as well?

Well you should have a sticker with XP registration code on that HP case... you could use the XP copy that you found, or even call HP Support, tell them you formatted the disk and lost the installation files, let them send you a copy....

ah... thanks.. i was wondering what that lil code was for! i know how to splice wires screw screws cut holes paint..... but software......not my freind

i went with the q6600 and the xfx bord it was only 99 bucks! for the board but that psu sure does look purdy my toatal was 534.98 uesing my old psu and a zero therm nivana

well i dont think the nirvana will fit on a XFX nForce 680i LT SLI Socket 775 after looking at it
so any other good ideas abouta cooler? the chipset fans are taller then i thought .
