Ive also been slightly suspicious of Abit boards, never had a good experience with them until this one. It really is awesome and great bang for buck

No surprise on the rumors, I am sure Intel is also working on the X58 already as well...

Has anyone seen a ship date for the X38 boards? It's gotta be soon.

*sigh*

In the press release where they announced the chipset they said 90 days, which would have been last week.

Oh well, my birthday os Oct 2nd, so it can be a birthday gift to myself...

Yesterday I hooked up a Gigabyte P35 (DDR2 and DDR3 slots for £75!) board and an E6400 (second hand for £50!), and its doing great at almost 3.5GHz @ 1.375v. Will test it properly tomorrow, hopeing for 4GHz on air.

Zaltan, I swear you never stop buying hardware. I thought you went back to AMD a couple of weeks ago?

Although that 2900 Pro in your sig looks promising. I'm well up for CrossFire now I have a new PSU and compatible motherboard, but the 2900XTs have properly put me off with how much power they require and how much heat they produce. Lets hope the 2900 Pro launches soon.

AMD X2 was awful so I had to switch back. I'm a student (Audio Technology) now so I probably won't be able to upgrade so much, I'll try my best though. This CPU seems to be clocking nicely tested it at 3.7GHz for SuperPi already. I believe 2900PRO is meant to be this month. It just a slower clocked card so it should still be pretty nice, check this.

Cheers for that. Is X2 really so slow compared with Core?

Well I could notice it in some games, calling it awful might have been an exaggeration... It might just have been because I had been using Core 2 for about a year, that I actually noticed the difference.

Intel shows off Skulltrail Dual CPU and SLI

Now that looks yummy!

This is the interesting part....

We've just got word that Intel (and perhaps some of their partners) will be using an nForce MCP on some of their X38 based motherboards, and it's these boards that will support SLI.

Who wants to put odds that Asus or Gigabyte is the first out the door with an X38 board with SLI support?

So, the boards are out, the X38s that is. Newegg has these four boards, 2 from Asus and 2 from Gigabyte. My problem is this, I went and bought DDR3 RAM, so the only one I can buy right now is the Gigabyte GA-X38T-DQ6, which is a really nice board. But after seeing the Asus Maximus Formula, I want that with DDR3.

Has anyone seen any opther boards actually out there available for purchase yet?
