Thoughts?

Its only bad if you want SLi

Decided that SLi is not worth the money for the performance I would be gaining. Besides, I have plans for some OC action anyways.

Check this out:

HP offers CrossFire on nForce SLI motherboard | News | Custom PC

It seems that HP's new gaming PCs are offering Crossfire on an Asus Striker nForce 680 motherboard!

Either HP/Voodoo commissioned Asus to do this for them, they hacked the Striker Extreme BIOS in house or Nvidia gave them special drivers. Could this be the beginning of non-specific dual-GPU configurations on any two-slot motherboard?

Yeah, I really don't think that would be allowed by ATI. They obviously want people to use their crossfire endorsed chipsets (975X/P965/RD600/P35). I'm sure its technically possible though, all you'd need is drivers.

I WANT MY X38!!!!

It's been more than 90 days since the Press Releae annoucing it (June 5th) and I have been patiently waiting for it since my fellow PCApexers told me about it. NOW I WANT IT!

I have a shiny new E6850, 2gb of Corsair DDR3 RAM, and a PowerPC & Cooling PSU just sitting here collecting dust waiting for a mobo. The 8800GTX is at least getting some use while I wait, but still....

Ahhh, I feel better now. Just wanted to vent a bit.

Looks nice... Shame there wasn't any overclocking info. And things like 3Dmark06 CPU tests.

975X is still the daddy. Hopefully when X38 is out someone will do a proper comparison of all the major Core 2 chipsets (975X/P965/RD600/680i/650i/P35/X38), I still reckon that 975X would keep up.

Which P35 boards did you guys get, and what do you think of them? The only reason I haven't bought a P35 is that the case ain't ready yet.... but will be very soon.

Asus P5K Deluxe. Awesome board, expensive but worth it for the stability and overclocking options. It has dual-lan, eSata, WiFi, and the best feature - you don't ever have to clear the CMOS because it can tell when your machine crashes after a failed overclock.

Overclockers.co.uk have that Gigabyte X38 board in stock. And Bit-Tech reports that Asus have a Republic of Gamers X38 board in the works, called the Asus Maximus.

I got the Abit IP35-E, its a great board, and if you're not bothered about the fancy pants features (I bet reflux isn't using dual lan, eSata or Wifi) then its amazing for the price.

It also clears the CMOS for you if you make a bad OC. Overall im very impressed, overclocked my E4300 to 3.2Ghz in a flash and hasn't crashed yet

Thanks. If I finish my case mod before the X38s come out I will pick up one of those, probably the Asus since I had a bad experience with Abit back in the Max2 days.
