8600SLI vs 8800GTS

Currently running a x1800xt on a DFI Ultra-M2 (Non SLI, too afraid to unlock it)

Word is 8600SLI dusts the 8800gts. True or False?

Is it really worth it for me to upgrade? Or rather, which upgrade is a better option?

Right now looking at these two boards if I go SLI

i am running the AMD board. I love it. But wait 5 minutes the INTEL guys will chime in and tell you how much faster the core stuff is. But hey... I like AMD, this board rocks my socks.

Go for the single 8800GTS if you need to, but I'd wait for newer products.

Unfortunately there is little in the way of games that will drive the switch to DirectX 10, games like Ghost Recon 2 need 512MB VRAM for high quality, and most of the new performance cards guzzle power.

Get an 8800GTS; SLi is unreliable and flaky, and if you're running a game that doesn't like it, you'll be left running one card with only 32 stream processors and totally poo memory bandwidth

I like DFI and its settings, i can say it though, i am a fanboy. But why not?

As for the 8800GTS vs the 8600GT (xxx or fatality versions have 620 core with 1600 -1700 mem) i was in the same debate, the only thing i have against getting one card, it i'm buying a SLI board, actually it has three PCIe slots. Why would i go non SLI, with no hope of ever buying another?

two of these dont look bad, wish they were in stock

Thats the card I have but mines EVGA and it works nice for the price...best bang for the buck out.
