Question Question about upgrading Graphics for a future build...

Well, currently I have a mediocre setup I use for gaming, It gets me good FPS in CS:S and decent gameplay in BF2142, and was great for WoW(till i got banned and quit lol).

Current setup
Asus 8ar-MVP32
AMD 4000+
2 gigs of some random ram(it was a very budget build)
ati x800
Antec 500watt PSU

As I dont currently have a job and will be upgrading my system from the GPU/PSU to start, once I get a job within the next couple of weeks, money will start to not be an issue...

Right now I've been looking to just throw down the big bucks for a power supply that will preform with anything I throw at it down the line... i.e. anything new Nvidia decides to pop out within the next year or so.. Something along the lines of Thermaltakes Toughpower 1200watt PSU or Ultras new 1600watt as I plan on making it into an uber gaming rig.

And as for the GPUs.. Startingout with just a 8800GTS 640mb.. single to keep the price low for now, and then when Nvidia decides to pop out the next latest thing, ill have the $$ saved and the PSU to handle it(or them if i ever go SLI)

The question I have now.. cuz I'm that familiar with how the hardware works together... Can I run that 8800GTS(or any Nvidia card) on an ATI chip motherboard like my A8r-MPV32, or would i need to get a Mobo with an Nvidia chipset. I'm only going single GPU till I do a total re-haul on the computer, in which case i'll be buying an Nvidia based MoBo for SLI support.

Thanks

I know that my ABIT AW9D motherboard, which is built for dual ATI video cards, is "unofficially" supposed to support nVidia's SLI, so I don't think it would be that difficult to go the other way, either. I'd check into the BIOS revisions and support forums for your particular motherboard.
