Default PSU assistance

IÂ’ve got my new computer case on the way and am starting to order the parts seeing as in 3 days price drops are likely. YAY IÂ’m having trouble picking a power supply. IÂ’m eyeing the Silencer 750 Quad but IÂ’m not sure if 750 is enough power. IÂ’m getting a quad core over clocking it to 4 GHz or as fast as I can get it. IÂ’ll eventually have Sli running and a physics card (depending if they make use of them in the next 2 years) couple gigs o ram, a pair of hard drives and a water cooling setup, and a pile o lights.

I figured you guys would be able to tell me if this sucker is the right choice. I wish Power PC & and cooling had an 850. Your input will be greatly appreciated. Also I couldnÂ’t tell if this thing was single rail. They motion it with the other power supplies they make but I didnÂ’t see anything on this one.)

If you have a better suggestion just let me know IÂ’ll consider it, however I like the fact that this PSU has the fan on the end as my case has the PSU mounted on the bottom and I like have it just expel the heat out the back. IÂ’ve been checking the forms and searching the net but I just canÂ’t find a direct enough answer to reassure me that IÂ’m not going to be buying a new PSU before I get to running Crysis and Bioshock.

Default Re: PSU assistance

while i own a 750 quad, i have never used it (still in its box), but the fact is i paid the premium for it due to almost every review (including the one right here on pcapex) giving it damned near perfect scores, and claiming that its 750 watt rating is actually rather modest, and its actual real-world wattage approaches that of 800-850+ watt units.

i have seen forum sigs with people running dual 8800GTX/Ultras with quad core cpus on it, so i would assume its got the muscle for the hustle.
