| Hey guys, Ive finally decided to take the plunge into the world of LCD screens. Ive researched a bunch and narrowed my decision down to two screens. HP W2007 and HP W1907 Now the only differences between them are that the W2007 is a 20.1" LCD vs W1907's 19". The W2007 has a Resolution of 1680 x 1050 vs 1440 x 900 on the W1907. Also the W2007 Cost $50 bucks more. Do ya'll think the added desktop real estate is worth the extra cash? Should I go big or go home? | ||

| Sempr0n? | Are you much of a gamer? If so, you need to factor in your graphics card in your choice of screen. Most modern graphics cards will have no problems running games at 1440x900, but 1680x1050 is quite a step up and you'll need something along the lines of an 8800GTS if you want to play games like FEAR at native res. I've just bought a 22'' and I love the size - big PC screens are awesome. If you can afford the extra $50, go for the bigger model. | |

| 2 more inches for less..... Newegg.com - Hanns·G HW-223DPB Black 22" 5ms HD 1080P supported DVI Widescreen LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 1000:1 Built in Speakers - Retail I have the 19" widescreen Hanns-G (Hanns makes a lot of the nifty Dell monitors) and absolutely love it. If your vid card can't support the native high resolution for gaming, you could try this model that is nearly identical to mine: Newegg.com - Hanns·G JW-199DPB Black 19" 5ms DVI Widescreen LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 700:1 Built in Speakers - Retail | ||

| I have 9800XT. A little old school in today's standards. I never really thought about the gaming resolution issue. I do game. And I don't think that my machine would handle newer games as well as I would want it. I think I'm just going to go for the 19". Thanks for all the help guys. Let me know if yall have any other suggestions. | ||

| Is there a particular reason for the HP preference? They're a little high. Right now, you can get like a Samsung 206BW for 270 at Newegg (250 after rebate); if you have Fry's locally, I think they had it in their circular yesterday. That's what I have, and aside from poor off-axis viewing (I want to be able to watch at about 60 degrees from on-axis), it's pretty nice. | ||

| I like the glossy screen. To me it makes the picture SO much more crisp. Ive seen demos on both non-gloss and gloss screens and the glossy screens I prefer. I do have a local Fry's and that 19" widescreen with the rebate is cheaper....I might have to go by there and check it out. That is, if they still have any. Thanks Hak Foo! | ||

| I bought a viewsonic about a year ago it was a 20.1" which was a nice size upgrade from a 17" how ever i will never buy another viewsonic product as they won't fix the thing as the foot is warped it wont stand withough wedges under the feet and the screen gets a little weird off to the right side. So watch out for brands. Maybe i just got a mellon but they should still replace it. At work we just upgraded to 20.1" aswell and we run cad all day and ill tell you what size matters. Bigger is better. My next one will be a 32" for sure. I've also noticed quality is very important i developed an eye twitch in my right eye from one screen that was not very good (don't remember what it was) but a pack of M-80s later and a new screen an my eye is almost back under controal. | ||
