I think Synergy has it...I'll get him to come back on here and tell you what he thinks. I think he has the A panel.

I'm guessing the Samsung 226BW uses the same panel as my 22'' LG L226WTQ (the specs are the same)...if it does, it'll be a damn fine monitor, and a very good purchase. You might want to check out the LG as an alternative actually; it was £70 cheaper here.

Hi, reflux is right I own this TFT but the 'S' version

Firstly its size is huge and if you are not used to 22'' WS then its a joy to use and you may find yourself smiling like an idiot gawping at it It looks veryyy nice too in gloss black and I don't find the blue on/off button light too distracting.

I am very happy overall with this monitor its GREAT for gaming if you can run your games at 1680x1050 do it, my 8800GTS 640mb seems to be able to do that just fine...

Great for browsing the net, I just adjusted RGB in the 'custom' profile to make the web page as white as poss, also adjusted gamma setting (there are three possibles) and of course contrast and brightness. Now its all so VIVID in games and browsing the net its fantastic I don't see how a screen in this price range can be vastly BETTER

There is some backlight bleed along my top and bottom edges but this doesn't bother me at all as my last monitor had it and is only noticeable on a very black screen.

Video seems to pixelate strangely, not sure why that is but HD 1080p content looks real good good on it even tho its only 1050 vertical pixels

All in all i'd give this monitor a solid 9.5/10 I find it very hard to fault

Thanks reflux, I have been doing some reading and it looks like the S is the better of the two, my local circuit city has them in stock so I might take a run over there during lunch and see if they will let me look before I buy. I figure if I am spending that much I might as well get the best

You should be OK with older games, but newer titles like Prey, FEAR etc. will probably require you to run lower resolutions.

Yah I am expecting that....

Well piss on my foot......I went to Circuit City and looked at the one on display and it was a S....The sales person (said he just had started there) assured me that it would be the same as they had in stock, now I knew that was most likely not true but I took the gamble anyways and got it.

And damn it is a C panel ....they are made by Chi Mei and are apparently not as good as the S panel....

O well, I guess I will have to wait till I get home from work to see.....I have been reading around and it would appear that with some calibration the screen looks fine but when you first hook it up it has a really bad blue shift.....If I can't get it to look right or am just not happy I am going to return it (I think there is a 15% restocking fee tho, always thought that was bs)

I will up date when I get home

Thanks, I have nothing to do 2night so I should be have plenty of time to play around with her and post some pics and findings...I found this site that has posted some pre calibrated color profiles so I will try those as well...I hope everything goes well, I have always had excellent luck with Samsung and like there products. I have one of there 19" LCDs now and love it.

I purchased a 206BW (the 20" analogue to the 226) a few weeks ago, and aside from the usual LCD gripes (the viewing angle sucks relative to a CRT, the resolution is low relative to a CRT, the blacks may not be as dark as a CRT...), it's decent.

Well I am using it now and after about an hour of calibration I think she is a keeper.....the screen was very blueish when I first turned it on but using the profile from that site helped a bunch....now the picture is rich and really nice...It is bright as hell and the contrast is seems really good....And on top if that the whole thing looks damn sexy and matches my keyboard and mouse

I have payed a HL2 and Doom 3 so far and there is not a hint of ghosting...The darks are a lot better then my old 19", my only complaint so far is that there is a fair amount of back light bleed, more then my old LCD, on the top and bottom of the screen....when playing dark games it is noticeable but you really don't look at the far top and bottom all that much when playing FPS so it really is not that bad. I would love to see how vista looks on it.

What really gets me is that there are a bunch of settings. I was able to tweak the image to completely get rid of the blue with out even using the profile...I just used the RED, BLUE, and GREEN settings and was able to match it with my old LCD perfectly. I really think people were over reacting with the whole different panel thing, I guess every one needs something to bitch about these days

I for one would tell anyone who asked to go out and get one if they were in the market. I would give it a solid 9/10.

I took some pics and will post them later for eascarface and anyone interested.

I think I'm going to opt for the Samsung 225bw with it's fancy height-adjustments. Despite being 5ms as opposed to 2ms like the 226, I think the added versatility is worth it. I also have an 8ms monitor currently, with no ghosting whatsoever, so as far as I know it wouldnt make that much of a difference anyway. Also, from what I can tell, the 225 seems to have a thinner frame around the screen with no silver at the bottom, but that's a matter of personal preference. Anyone tell me if the 225bw needs much calibration? Ironically enough, I'm at work right now and using the 226bw model . It seems untweaked, with no blueish hues. Maybe it's the earlier one you referred to? Bought from Fry's.

Yea. Using it for work. Good boss!

Oh and hey everyone! may not see my greet in the appropriate forum, so I'll say hello again haha. So I'm new. Yea.

The 226 is really a 5ms monitor, but it can apparently be overdriven to give the 2ms claimed.

Yup Hak Foo is right...Samsung uses an over drive function on the 266bw to get the 2ms response time. It can be turned off in the menu.

My really only gripe about it now is the back light bleed, but I will prob get used to it....I am out of town 2night and sat so cant use her again till Sunday. Gunna load up f.e.a.r next me thinks

I will try and post some pics on Sunday...

Peace out

Same sentiment for my 206BW. It looks excellent until you turn the room lights off.
