So the PSP has more features than my laptop and twice the battery life. Paying $250 for a 4" screen may sound outlandish to a few but just look at the possibilities. The psp can play mp3's mp4's and display jpeg's out of the box. If you have the firmware version 1.50 you can run homebrew apps like just about every emulator you can think of (within reason) and so much more. There are homebrew ports such as doom and even quake. Well if homebrew isnt for you then you can update the firmware to 2.0. I did such and love it, homebrew pfft who needs it, I can play my wonderswan games on my
pc. Some may say the addition of a browser is the best part of 2.0, I disagree. The browser is par at best, common errors arise and typing takes days. Although I personally dont like the browser it is still pretty nice to connect to someones router and check my email. Now here I was I like the best about 2.0, atrac3 music files. If anyone owns a mini disk this may ring a bell. A standard 6mb mp3 can shrink down to 1.5mb in the atrac3 format. This is how you can fit 6 cds onto a minidisk or your entire collection onto your one gig memory stick in your psp. Atrac3 music plays just as good as mp3's with no distortion or noticable change. With 2.0 you can also change your background without a hack and send pictures to other psp's with 2.0 wirelessly. Because the psp now has a browser many tricks can be performed. Portable VNC, control every electronic device with your psp, control winamp with a simple plug in, dim the lights and close the blinds (if you have automated crap like that). The psp is a $250 remote that plays games and can live for 8 hours. An investment Im glad I made.
