Default Playstation "Porn-able"

I could slap these peopel upside the head...

YouTube - Fox 29 on the PlayStation Pornable

"If its suppost to be made for kids, they shouldnt have access to this stuff"
Who said it was for kids?? What happened to being a parent and not blaiming everyone. The kid should be punnished, not sony, or the millions of fans that appriciate the feature.:furious3:

That crap pisses me off...You open up a system to the internet, and people are going to go look at porn, no matter what...

It happens on the PC everyday...it'll happen on the PSP, PS3, and Wii, just because they have a web browser. If/when Microsoft ever implements a web browser, it will happen on the 360 as well...

I agree though CK...it's the parents fault/responsibility for that stuff. Does the PSP come with content blocks at all though? To, possibly, 'prevent' kids from seeing things that they 'shouldn't see with their 'innocent' eyes?

though you cant block by keyword or specific content, you can password the browser to use it...

That's a start, but that doesn't stop the real 'threat' as the video is getting at...

if someone puts a few movie files on a disc...pops it into the PSP...they have portable porn...

Who else didn't see this coming when the PSP was announced to play video files off of memory sticks? lol...

Just like I don't see how people didn't think they wouldn't be introduced to their competitors 'nether regions' in UNO or other games once the XBOX Vision Camera debuted...

[rant] //Please note that this may come off overly critical and in some cases against your ideas on raising children, these are my thoughts (very long thoughts) and my thoughts only. I know some kids of the parents i am in gaming clans with that let their kids play and from this little bit of time i can tell they have taken the time to discuss these things with them, they are polite, mature and pretty good gamers.

My Few Issues with this news story, please bear in mind i am a PSP owner

1. With the ease of obtaining/viewing porn the PSP's web browser should really be the least of their worries (at least they touch on it being more than just the PSP later in the story).

2. "Inside is a high powered computer"... No offense to the PSP but even accessing content designed for it (i.e. from Sony) it is exactly that quick.

3. Right after the revelation of the high powered computer and introduction of the cop they show someone on AIM... Kind of hard to get (at least from what i know) on a PSP. Not really sure, maybe a homebrewer can clear this up, but even with homebrew do you have access to AIM? Even if so, cybers3x would take forever using the keyboard on that ;P

4. They keep lovingly showing people accessing porn FROM A PC!

5. Kid got into trouble for bringing his PSP to school? Maybe it is a generational gap but when i was that young if you brought a rubber ball, yo-yo or any other toy it got confiscated and, depending on the cost, returned to the parent.. (also, teach your kid to wear a hat correctly).

6. Maybe the school should learn to restrict their Internet.

7. Hate groups are on the Internet? HOW DARE THEY, DONT THEY KNOW KIDS COULD ACCESS THIS? I wish someone would block their series of tubes. I am not advocating hate groups but this is kind of a no brainer that they would have websites.

8. Ahhh, no gaming story is complete without its link to violence. Maybe a mom or dad should... I don't know, try being a parent and getting involved in their child's life, from what they spend after school time doing, games they purchase or TV shows they watch? SIDE NOTE: i do not have kids but yes, was one at one time. I do however have a niece and nephew (plus a new nephew born Tuesday!) and when they are over at my house i do check with my brother and his wife on what kind of movies i own and games i own that they should play or watch. Call me overly cautious but once again it takes very little to act and take responsibility with a child.

9. OH MY GOD I THOUGHT SHE WAS ACTUALLY GOING TO SAY "It takes a parent"... But no, its about their self esteem?!?!?! They did say "The experts say, Talk to your children"... I am so glad it took an expert for some parents to realize they need to talk with their kids.

well...the only other way to get porn on ones psp is

a) UMD...but i dont know of any UMD's containing porn
b) Memory Stick via PSP...but shouldnt the parents be monitoring what theyre doing on the computer?
c) direct transfer between psp's, but this only goes a long with photos. you cant transfer any other format.

Still, the parents can pop in and look on the psp, and see if they got any videos or pictures on there. And on top of that they can block out the internet browser...

With homebrew you can do anything a computer can with your psp.

The browser can go to google image search and pull up porn.

There are sites designed for PSP Porn.

The school clearly doesnt have a good filter.

Thanks for filing me in on the homebrew, have never really messed with it myself, just read some sites about it.

Yeah, the school filter and even some filters from home need to be worked on.

I agree 100% Reverend KWR...

Though not everythings possible with homebrew. the main limitation is memory, and you got the uber slow cpu. though there isnt any Instant Messenger homebrew that i know of (im not really big into the homebrew stuff though), you can use browser based instant messengers with the internet browser

There is an aim and MSN client you can use with homebrew. You can actually type pretty quick after you get used to it.

Sounds like you need to get into the mod scene!!

Anyways I think you made the best point of them all....WHERE ARE THE PARENTS? They blame everything on everything else but themselves. Damn parents, they ruin everything for the regular gamers!
