| I tried using photoshop with my mouse, and I hate it. So I got to thinking - what about one of those tablet input devices.... I'm looking for something on the cheaper side of things - 200 USD or so since salmon season is over. Any suggestions? Never really looked into this area of input devices, and haven't found any good reviews on any of them either. ![]() | ||

| One of my middle school teachers got a 21" Wacom Cintiq a little while ago. Its easily one of the most amazing things I've ever seen. (Though slightly out of your price range---$2500) Last edited by eascarface; 03-October-06 at 01:16 AM.. | ||

Nice find. My friend actually showed me his Graphire 3 (6x8)... pretty nifty tool to have for art/photoshop stuff. (He's an art major... so he really finds it useful).
Also a great find. Tempting, in fact . Although I don't see a brand name... so I'd rather trust the Wacom since I've seen it in action.

| i have a wacom intous (i think thats what its called) and i got it for free, its a 6x8 and its awesome you kinda got to get used to the desktop being 6x8 inches but after you get the hang of it, there really awesome towork with, get a pen with lots of buttons though, makes clicking easier i used mine as a mousepad for my mother who couldnt use it wellenough, and as my mouse for the computer, we had a 21" at my graphic arts class in my HS votechit was fricken awesome, a lot nicer and easier to work with than the small ones | ||

| I use the Intuos3 6x8 (like s1ugh34d) at work, and it's great for me. I haven't used it as much as I thought I might though--it definitely takes a little getting used to. The Intuos3 6x8 is anywhere from $264 on eBay to $306 on Newegg (the MSRP is $329.95). So I guess it's a little out of range anyway. I haven't tried the Graphire line; I looked into them when I was buying, but folks on the Photoshop forums sorta turned up their noses at those. And it's kind of hard to compare specs when Wacom only publishes the accuracy & resolution of the Intuos. I'm guessing a Graphire would be just fine; it's probably the best selling tablet out there, so there's lots of support. And if you get really good and decide you love working with a tablet, you can always upgrade! | ||

I have to say, i used a graphire at a computer show once, its abot identical to the intuos padi have here, and just about ever other pad i've used, tablets arealot of fun to play with once you haveit and get used to it, i used to have pre cut paper for space on the tab, so that when i was in photoshop i could draw what i had drew on paper, to scale in the smal space, lots of fun actually drawing on a computer, making that graphic design thing look awesome, and original.

| Well I've spent a couple of days with that Cintiq and well.....it's rather amazing. Being able to draw straight into Alias Sketchbook or precise editing in photoshop is an absolute joy. The screen is huge and very very sharp---no ghosting or anything. Its also got incredibly rich and deep colors---which unfortunatly means the screen is rather dark when gaming(though thats pretty easily fixed). If I had the money to buy I would--in a second. Plus the new inkball game in Vista is a blast with this baby. ![]() | ||
