| OK right now I play World of Warcraft pretty avidly and my current guild has a pretty pathetic website, so I decided to make a new one. Now, I have no experience on making websites but I wanted one that was set up pretty much the same as pimprig is. Right now I have about 130 people in my guild wiht about 30 actively playing so I need some help finding a place to host for really cheap and a program to make setting it up easy. Here are some requirements: 1. HAve a forum 2 Enough bandwidth for 50-150 hits a day 3. Have room for at least 50 screenshots Thx in advance | ||

| You can find some pretty nice hosting over at Globat.com, moderately cheap. Forums aren't provided by your server, it's usually PHP or CGI that you have to implement. PimpRig here has vBulletin (http://www.vbulletin.com/) forums, which is PHP powered, I'm pretty sure. You should check into some templates and stuff if you've never designed a site before. Getting some ideas and learning how to manipulate code is where I started; even though I really don't do anything with my skills, I do have some extensive knowledge in the area. If you need any help or anything, I'm sure I'll be around so either PM me or just reply here with some questions as you go, and I'll try myself to give you some guidance. Do a Google search for "clan templates" or something like that. A lot of clans put up templates for people to create sites for their own clans, and guilds would be the same thing, so see what you can dig up on that. Cheers! | ||

I don't know anything about that particular host, but to give you an idea, PimpRig's entire database only takes up 523.63 MB (this is minus attachments).

| a good host whom i've used countless times for clients over the past few years is Lunarpages , another which i've only used on just my most recent is globat . They both have well protected and super stable servers. I'd still choose lunarpages at this point, i've done so well with them in the past, but for your bandwidth consumption I might recommend globat just because they dish out more for less. An interesting side note, they keep their servers secure, so even if your website has a hole in it both of these companies will take it offline. I programmed a pretty insecure php script a year or so ago and they disabled it the next day, issued a warning, and pointed me to a hotfix script that i just plugged and played with. | ||

| I have been using 8-95.com for about a year for my clan site. For a long time I used their free plan, which was something like 20 Mb of space. Before long I ran into bandwidth/storage limits, and upgraded to one of their cheap plans. The uptime has been great, the only concern is that their customer support is more or less limited to an online knowledge base. Others are right in saying that you will need to install your own forum software. I use PHP-Nuke, but there are many others out there... | ||

| I have a few mates who run a web hosting and web design site. They servers are super stable and the prices are great. They could cook you up a very professional looking website very cheaply. Bit of a shamless plug, but i suggest everyone looking for cheap reliable hosting, and/or web design services check them out. http://www.nihilaxiom.com/ | ||

| I use www.ipowerweb.com . Plenty of space and features, and great customer service/support. Comes out to about 8 bucks a month, paid annually. | ||

Adobe GoLive. My favorite editor of HTML and CSS. Hands down. If you're at all serious about making a Web site, I'd say you shell out the time and money for a program that's going to work. However, if you're just playing around, you better get those fingers going in Notepad and learn some HTML. It's actually a great place to start, because it really teaches you some real-life stuff about coding and editing that code. Try finding a freeware WYSIWYG editor at a site like tucows or download.com.
