| I've been working on this little web project with my Friend for a while now and As of today I finaly broke it out of the box and posted it up on the net using a re-directing service. I will be buying the Web domain name soon, and I would like to get some feed back from all you pimps out there. I'm also looking for people to join my forums and maybe use the tracker and well test everything overall. I'm working on it as I speak so don't expect perfection yet there are still things to be fixed, Everyones thoughts and feelings are valued by me as important so good feedback or not should come with some advice/tips/info/please fix this/ I think this could be better/ etc. Thanks Everyone http://superanimetracker.no-ip.org/ is now http://www.animeroot.com linkage Last edited by anime-fan-man; 31-July-05 at 03:48 AM.. | ||

| I had quite a lengthy review and a bit of critism all typed up, when IE (crappy browser) crashed for a random reason and I lost everything I had typed. So, here we go again with a little synopsis of how I would reccomend making this better: The splash screen is a good idea. I'm very fond of splash pages, but they're used to be able to get the user's attention, and make them excited about going to the site. The banner at the top isn't half bad, but the rest of the front page just looks sloppy and made by a complete amateur with little-to-no HTML skills at all. Sorry to put that mean, but it's the blunt truth. You need to learn to use elements like CSS and such to present the site a little more professionally. I think it would be cool to have a centered (both horizontally a vertically) image much like the one you have at the top, but with a scrolling DIV container overlaying it with the contents of your "terms of use" box or whatever that is. If you're dead-set on using the textbox, at least make it so I can't edit the text. I understand the changes aren't permanent, but a legal disclaimer such as that should be presented a little better and in a read-only state. You should use CSS to change the properties at least, and make it fit into the design a little better. Moving on to the next page, after clicking Agree or whatever, I'm greeting by my nightmare of visiting Web pages. I thought sites using standard frames, and not to mention frames with borders around them went out a long time ago? You really need to learn how to use tables to effectively organize your content. Also, pick a theme and go with it. You also need to steer away from that Times New Roman in your news updates, and go with something a little more modern, since you have this somewhat newage header image, and a modern-ish header on your splash page, then there's this standard red Times New Roman text, and a somewhat flashy Flash navigation. The navigation is nice, but try to work it in a little better and get away from using frames. Definitely work with tables for a more compact design, and something that's a little more appealing to the eyes. I like the look of the forums, they at least have a consistent color scheme, and something matching the stepping stones you have layed out on your site. I just can't believe you're not using CSS to format the font or at least format the links! Step away from the standard blue links with the purple visited links. That's so 1998! o.O If you don't know how to use CSS, I've started a thread in the Programming/Scripting topic, with good links to a lot of different tutorials. Check those out and see if you can find anything to help you! Or, if you need some help, contact me and I'll be able to give you some more personalized help as you go along! Here's a link to the thread I was referring to: http://forums.pcapex.com/showthread.php?t=43443 Cheers! | ||

| Ok heres some critisizm. Heh, if I spelled that right. Anyways, the buttons are not home made. I mean I dont want to shoot you down completely but I dont know how you Photoshop skills are but you could make some killer buttons. The layout of the page is simply put, simple. Its like every other page out there. No I dont mean to be a hater but you did good. I want you to look at this webpage just to get an idea of how simple buttons and margins can mean a whole world of difference. I understand that this has been professionally done but even without flash it would still have a great appearence over the onlooker. *see the squiggly lines at the end of all of the buttons? put your mouse of that.* I want that cd man, awsome. | Thanks for the ideas, I'm going to make some flash buttons to replace the old ones, and im probly going to make all the text stay in a theme, but im worried about the read-abilty of the news and ETC. I like the idea of a flash site but I'v tried to make a all falsh site before and jesus I wanted to kill myself after update number 1, it was that bad. I'm going to try to get new buttons done over the weekend and fix the fonts on the dl/reviews/links pages. Thanks for the feed back it helps. | ||

| The layout is banal. Almost every other web page has the menu-on-the-left-content-on-the-right-banner-on-top scheme. Even if you are using that layout, frames are a thing of the past. Use tables, divs, or spans. The organization is rather bad. The banner is quite unattractive. The buttons aren't bad, but having a scrolling menu section is a pet peeve (1024x768). The fonts are for old people. Again, organization needs to be improved. Don't make the viewer scroll down that much. I would suggest making a better banner or getting someone to do it for you. Having attractive graphics is really one of the most important aspects of a site. Use CSS to change your link colors/fonts/etc. | ||

lmao, sorry just the way that came across reminded me of the Vodafone TV adds in the UK right now. Back on topic, sorry afm, that site looks pretty poor currently. Good attempt but not very professional. I would also advise you make it compatible for lower resolutions. (yes, some people still use 1024 x 768, or even 800x600)

Well, in my opinion the design is still lacking. Use a different font for the banner. Align the menu with the rest of the page. Add some padding to your tables so the text doesn't line up with the frame border. Spell the items in the menu correctly. Don't use copyrighted images. You might also want to read up on some more HTML and CSS code. Having frames is a very inefficient way of organizing webpages. Frames are deprecated according to web standards. Instead of using image rollovers for the menu, it would be more effecient if you used link hover CSS commands. You should really read up on CSS. CSS opens up possibilities for webpages that one cannot imagine. I don't want to be harsh, but the site is just not appealing. Think about your site as if you were some other guy on the internet. Would he want to visit a site with a lousy design containing common information? If you designed a webpage just based on your tracker, people would find more interest in visiting your site. Remember, quality not quantity. Again, if I come out as harsh to you, I apologize.

| I'm sorry to say this, and I don't know how else to put it, but this version of your Web work is worse than before... The graphic work is horrible, the colors are absolutely hideous, and you still haven't took heed to any of our suggestions, it would seem. I think you really need to practice with the basics of Web design before you take a site live. You do whatever you want, and if others like it...be it as it may. I can appreciate someone wanting their own Web site, but there's a difference between wanting to have one and having the skill and knowledge to create one. | ||

| Ouch guys, but thanks for the feedback I need it. I'm trying to figure out how the hell to get css going because this is just a migration of sorts. AS far as getting away from Frames go I need some help. I'm not sure about any other method out there or how to do otherwise. Give me a good direction to look for an alternate to frames besides flash or re-load pages. I'm trying here I've never taken any classes that are just web-design and for the most part I try to learn in my free time. Okay I'm going to make a few tweeks, check in agian soon, I'm trying to get a hold of this project I've just been busy with life and stuff. I Would like a suggestion to a new color scheme and maybe a few font idea's. Thanks for the FeedBack. | ||

| Color scheme: Light colors; greys, blues, with a black font—8-10pt Arial, Tahoma, or Verdana. ![]() As for the alternative to frames, it's very simple. TABLES. Most any Web sites you see is layed out with table cells. You just don't realize it, being that you're obviously new at this. Each section of a site is usually broken up in cells in a table, and the borders and such are just altered [with CSS, etc.] or removed to make the design look better. Check out www.htmlgoodies.com for some help with a lot of the basics of Web design. http://www.htmlgoodies.com/tutorials/tables/ - Great tutorials for tables; basically how I learned everything. I've never had any formal training in anything I know as far as computers are concerned. I learned all the HTML/CSS/PHP, Photoshop, and general computer hardware and software stuff I know from books I went and purchased, online tutorials, or just messing around with it. Like anything, it just takes time to get better with things. I've been doing Web design as a hobby for almost five years now and I'm still not as good as I'd like to be. I've been doing graphic design for about three, and still suck quite a bit. Again, skill comes with time! | ||
